A few months ago, I had some water damage in my basement, so I had to start working out in my garage . I’ve never been a fan of garage workouts, but I have to admit that I love it now! I wasn’t sure I would be able to keep it up now that it’s winter here in Virginia, but so far I’ve been able to maintain.
Do you workout in your garage?
Now I just need to come up with a name for my garage gym…..any ideas?
garage gym (and if you are curious, I follow an amazing workout program and community called Street Parking!)
Here are some of my favorite garage gym things. Please know you do not need ALL of these (or even most of them!) to get an effective workout. You can get an amazing workout with just a set of dumbbells and a bench, which is what I started out with many years ago. You also don’t actually need a garage, any designated space in your house works just as well!
Dumbbells
Floor mats
Adjustable bench:
Battle ropes
Kettlebells
Squat Rack
Lebert Equalizer
Box to jump or step on
Here is a quick workout I did last week in my garage gym:
4 inchworms
20 reverse lunges with plate overhead
Repeat 4 times
Working out in my garage has saved me a ton of money on monthly membership fees. I also love the fact I don’t have to drive anywhere to workout, I don’t have to wait for any equipment, and I can dance and sing without judgment! 🙂
There is also NO EXCUSE for why I cannot move my body on a daily basis. Exercise is my form of therapy for stress and anxiety. The muscles are nice but I do it so I can FEEL and MOVE better. Remember gang, you don’t need an hour or a ton of equipment, just a little bit of motivation and consistency!
If you live in my area and want a personal trainer to help get you started, send me a message! I would love to help you out. 🙂
