Walking does a body good!

It’s Monday gang, are you ready to MOVE? Move it Monday is a way to get a fresh and active start on our week so let’s get started!
Now that spring has sprung and the warm weather is finally coming around (I hope, yes?) let’s get outside and take time to literally smell the roses.
Schedule in at least 30 minutes today for a long walk. Do you ever notice when a child goes for a walk they are overjoyed by the smallest things?
“Look Mommy! It’s a leaf!” or “Look Mommy, it’s a BUS!”
Toddlers and children take time to enjoy every little thing. As adults though, we have become so accustomed to living and moving at a breakneck pace that we forget to appreciate the simple things in life.
So slow it down for today and just enjoy a walk. Don’t worry about how fast you are walking or how far you go, just enjoy the soft spring air and the sounds of birds chirping and dogs barking. Notice the buds on the trees and the flowers that have sprouted up overnight. Enjoy the sun shining on your face and the sound of your feet hitting the pavement.
Most likely your week is going to be busy and stressful, so give yourself a pass this morning to take a time out for you.
You deserve it gang!

I agree ever since the weather started to warm up my son and I have been heading outside for walks. He is 3, and he rides his tricycle and I walk along beside him. Not only is it great exercise, a learning expierence, but we also meet people that live around us. We ran into some kids his age and they played while the mom and I had a chat!

A walk is nice one in a while- I walked with my two in the stroller 11.5 miles round trip to the gym. It felt great, and Will had fun getting out and racing me!

Thanks for reminding me to stop and enjoy how beautiful the world is! It’s unfortunately so easy to not pay attention and appreciate it all when you’re going from one place to another.

I took some time this afternoon walking around outside with my toddler. We had great fun picking up sticks, and rocks, and everything else!
Now that the weather is warming up so nicely, it’ll be a great opportunity to transition from the treadmill to hoofing in the great outdoors.

I love that my 2 year old will grab her sunglasses and purse and stand at the door saying (ok YELLING :)):
WALKING! WALKING!!!
until I give in and we go.
(no matter that we walk about 3 steps and it’s carrying! carrying!)

Great reminder! I have to remind myself not to get irritated with my 3 year old as he stops at every flower and bug on the way to the car every day. I keep telling myself, “how nice that he gets so excited about these things!” Maybe I will try to get excited about them too.

My friend did something fun a few weeks ago, and went on a ‘bear hunt’ with her daughter through their neighborhood. Kids are great for walking buddies.

That’s a beautiful reminder to take the time and enjoy the details of life.
My husband and I just took an easy walk today through the nature preserve that’s just down the road. It was so refreshing seeing the signs of spring and just enjoying being outside.
