My kid is stylin’ with My First Shades

    By workoutmommy | March 18, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my rss feed. Thanks for visiting!

As most moms can relate, planning and preparation is key when it comes to running with kids in jogging strollers. The stroller must be loaded at all times with snacks, drinks, toys, blankets, diapers, and possibly the kitchen sink. If not, there is sure to be a massive meltdown which will throw all of your running plans straight out the window.

thumb_rcs-blue.jpgIn my case, the toddler tantrums are usually a result of the bright sunshine. My oldest has sensitive eyes and spends most of my workout shrieking that the sun just might get through his sunshade and hurt his eyes.

I have searched high and low for quality sunglasses and finally have found a wonderful product that I must share with you.

MyFirstShades™ offers sunglasses for little ones from newborn to age 7. All of their glasses feature 100% UV protection, impact resistant lenses, and a wrap style design. They are also waterproof and so far have been indestructible for my rough and tumble toddler.

    From their website:

“My First Shades™ brand of sunglasses offer serious sun protection for children – they are not a toy! They offer 100% UVA and UVB protection to keep out the full spectrum of harmful UV rays. They are constructed from professional grade polycarbonate frames and lenses and are shatterproof and impact resistant. They are designed with a soft, adjustable neoprene band to hold them in place so they are more likely to “stay put” on a child’s face, and they are designed to hug the curvature of a child’s face to minimize peripheral light that can also cause eye damage.”tn_img_0994.jpg

As you can see, my son loves his new shades and I can now enjoy my run. I plan to get a second pair for my little one too.

I’m very excited that MyFirstShades™ is offering one free pair to one of my lucky readers! To enter, simply leave a comment on this post prior to Saturday, Mar. 22, at midnight, EST. The winner will be contacted and announced on Monday, Mar. 24. The winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

Now, have you been active today?

Go put your shades on and get moving gang! No excuses!

UPDATE: Winner is #10 Jojo.   Thanks to all who entered!

I would love a pair of those glasses for my 2.5 yr old. She screams at me to turn off the sun throughout my whole run, leaving me feeling guilty for doing something for myself that I skip runs for the next little while until I get over it.

Great idea….we as adults love these type of “wrap around” glass while driving. This stops the sun from peeking through. My daughter also has very sensitive senses….the bright light and loud noises bother her very much. We would love to purchase (or win) a pair of these glasses for her. Thanks and enjoy the outdoors!!!
