cup o' tornadoToday is going to be a fantastic day gang!

After reading Mizfit’s post on Monday, I decided I want my glass to be FULL!
It’s tough to change your thinking, but it can be done.
It MUST be done.
No excuses.
Just like exercising.
It’s tough to change a routine (or no routine) but it can be done.
Start small and make it happen.

Today I am getting up at 5am to workout and I’m EXCITED about it!
What are you going to do to make your day FANTASTIC?!

Pushup challenge update

Monday, July 7th, 2008

It’s Monday gang, which means it is time to shake off the weekend and get moving!

onehundred125x125Today’s challenge? Pushups! If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to sign up for the 100 pushup challenge.

I jumped into this challenge three weeks ago and have seen a considerable increase in the number of full body pushups I can perform. (started with 5, now I can do 17!)

Week 3 was very challenging for me, so I have decided to hold myself back and repeat it. I want to focus on quality pushups with perfect form, so I think an extra week will give me the chance to build the strength that I need.

Here is my plan for today:

  • 15 pushups, rest for 60 seconds (or more)
  • 12 pushups, rest for 60 seconds (or more)
  • 12 pushups, rest for 60 seconds (or more)
  • 10 pushups, rest for 60 seconds (or more)
  • Max! 15 pushups or more

That gives me a total of 64+ pushups for today, which is a great way to start a Monday, yes? (Yes!)

On top of this, I plan to do 45 minutes on the spin bike for a cardio workout as well.

How about you gang? What is your fitness plan today?
No excuses!

What is your fitness plan this weekend?

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

I will be using my ValSlidethis weekend and doing a circuit workout from Valerie Waters Red Carpet Ready. My legs are nervous just thinking about it!

Day 112. April 21.I am also doing the 100 Push up Challenge, along with many others here. We are gearing up for a very challenging week #3. I am feeling strong, how about you?

And for those of you training for your fall marathon (Rachel, Fitarella, Nap Warden, JD, who else?), have a great run this weekend! (and please run a mile or two for me, ok? thanks!)

Now gang, how are you going to make your weekend an active one?

TGIF!

Friday, March 21st, 2008

hooray1.jpgFriday is finally here!

Do not forget to make time today for a workout. Do not make excuses, just get it done.

Need motivation and inspiration? Ok, think on these:

  • You WILL feel more energized after you workout. Get your blood pumping, heart rate racing, and enjoy your energy!
  • Swimsuit season is a mere 2 months away.
  • It will take you less time to get up those steps if you RUN! Save time and get fit!
  • Squatting on the wall is way more fun than sitting in a chair. Try it now. Go ahead, we’ll wait….
  • Each commercial break is about 2 minutes. How many push ups can you do during each commercial break?
  • Your kids will be very entertained as you jump rope, run or dance with them. My son loves it when I run around the yard with him. It tires him out and gives me a mini-workout.
  • Did I mention that swimsuit season is in 2 months?
  • and finally, life is too short to stay seated in that chair all day long!

So log off, get up and MOVE!
Have a healthy day gang!

Spring into Fitness challenge!

Monday, March 10th, 2008

spring.jpgIt’s Move it Monday gang and there is a new twist. Spring is right around that corner so Workout Mommy is having a Spring Into Fitness Challenge! Anyone can play, so be sure to email this to all your friends and family.

Here is the plan:

Each Monday there will be a new exercise or workout, similar to previous Move it Monday posts. In order to play, you have to actually do the workout, (just like you do every week, right?) and then come back to the challenge post and tell me what you did or did not like about it.

The Spring into Fitness Challenge will end at midnight EST on Monday, March 31, 2008. This gives you FOUR solid workouts to help you spring into fitness! There will be no thinking involved, just wake up on Monday mornings to an excellent workout and get it done. No excuses!

Yes, there will be fun fitness prizes that are still to be determined. Be sure to play the entire four weeks to find out if you are a winner.

Are you ready to Spring into Fitness gang? Great, let’s get moving!

cards.jpgChallenge workout #1 is another card party:

  • Get a deck of cards and grab about 20 cards. (less if you are a beginner, more if you need a bigger challenge.)
  • Find an area of your house or yard where you can freely run from one end to the other.
  • Distribute the cards face down at the opposite ends of the room or area.
  • For example, I will use my driveway and I will put 10 cards (face down) at the end of the driveway and the other 10 face down by my garage.
  • Red cards are squats kicks , black cards are forward lunges.
  • Starting at one end of the room, grab a card and do what it says. (ex: red 3=three squat kicks)
  • Run or briskly walk to the other side of the room and grab another card and do what it says. (ex: black king=10 forward lunges.)
  • Keep repeating this until all cards are done!
  • Remember to breathe, move fast, and have fun with it!

Once you are done, let your heart rate come down and enjoy some water.

Come back here and tell me how many cards you used and what you did or didn’t like about challenge workout #1.

Enjoy your energy gang and check back next Monday for the next Spring into Fitness workout!
