The past 3+ years of my life have been a roller coaster of stress.
My marriage ended.
My dad died.
I’ve had countless training injuries.
I packed up and moved –twice! (the second time to a whole new town where I knew no one).
Those are the highlights. Throw in all the little things and on most days of the week I want to turn in my adult card!
Seriously, I need this tank!
As I’ve said before, I love to self medicate with food. This is one area in which I definitely excel!
Despite all the stress and worries over the past few years, I am proud to say I’ve stayed true to my fitness goals. No, I’m not super lean and shredded, but that just isn’t in my cards for now. (hello, PIZZA!)
I am proud to say that I’ve maintained my fitness level over the past few years after YEARS of yo-yo dieting and clearly not looking the part of a fit person. (see that 2010 pic? Yea, I had just run a half marathon that same week. Cardio was obviously not cutting it for me anymore)
The pics also reveal some great booty gains! In 2014, I definitely had a pancake/runners butt! Credit for my butt transformation goes to Ashley Horner training programs!! 🙂
How do I stay on track during times of stress?
I focus on eating a lot of lean protein.
I eat green veggies with almost every meal.
I really try to avoid all bread or crackers, chips , and pretzels.
I workout hard 4-5 days per week. I rotate body parts, I do sprints for cardio, and I have learned to love lifting heavy!
I try (but often fail!) to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night.
I try (and again, fail) to avoid sugar. I love sugar and chocolate.
I focus on my WHY. Why did I start this journey? How does it make me FEEL? It’s nice to look good, but my journey is now about FEELING good. Feeling powerful, strong, and empowered.
You CAN do this gang! Just take it one step at a time, breathe, and keep your focus!
Never underestimate the power of a workout!
