How I found my village and thanked her with some ASICS Kayanos!
As a single mom with 4 very active boys, there are many, many days when I think to myself “I just cannot do this alone.”
The constant fighting, feeding, and math homework just sets me over the edge. Add to that multiple sports practices most days of the week. I’m exhausted and I basically have no social life of my own. While I know I need to find balance and find some oxygen for myself, it simply is just not possible at this time in my life. Last fall, I moved to a new neighborhood and thankfully found some wonderful neighbors who often reach out to me to offer a lending hand. They let my kids eat over, sleep over, and they help shuttle one or more of them to various sports practices. Growing up I always heard the term “it takes a village” and now I have come to fully understand this concept.
My neighbor Emily is a fellow running mom and personal trainer. She has a very busy life of her own but always offers to take one (or more) of my kids off my hands for me and for that I am extremely grateful. When ASICS told me I could “gift” something to an important person in my life for Valentine’s Day, I immediately thought of Emily. Without her, I don’t think my 8 year old would have been able to play basketball this winter because his practice days/times conflict with my 6 year old. She also has fed my other kids numerous times and checks up on them at school for me! She also loves to flip tires, so that pretty much sums up her awesomeness! Too bad Emily isn’t a single man because she would be my perfect soulmate!!! (just a joke….)
Since she has a busy schedule of races coming up, I gifted her these awesome Kayanos and I have no doubt she will run like the wind in them!
Thank you Emily and to all the wonderful people i have met in my new town. You have restored my faith in humanity and I appreciate all the help you have given me and the shoulders you provide for me to cry upon! I’m so happy I found this awesome “village”!
