Ahhhhh…..summer time! My mind goes back to memories from childhood and the complete JOY I felt when I jumped off that school bus for the last time. We were FREEEEEEE!!!
and now, as a mom……I can’t help but think OH DEAR GOD why isn’t school year round?! Anyone else feel this way?
I love my little people more than I can express, but there is NO down time at all when they are all home.
They fight, they scream, they cry…….it’s non-stop! ACCCKKKK!!!
So what is a workout mommy to do with 4 little people underfoot all summer?
Here is my plan:
1. Hire help! I plan to hire a sitter so I can workout and take a shower. Is it selfish? I don’t think so. I need the break and honestly my kids love the break from ME!
2. Be creative! Kettlebells can be done anywhere, including the beach. When we go on vacation, they are coming with me! The TRX can be used on the swingset or the tree out front. And my sandbag is perfect for an uphill climb in my backyard. Fitness can be found anywhere!
3. Accept reality! My house will be a disaster and laundry will get neglected. So what? Life will go on and as long as we are all healthy and happy at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters.
4. Enjoy the moment! We only get 18 summers with our kids, so why not make the best of this one? Yes, there will be fighting and crying and moments where I will want to run away! In between that time, I am going to make water balloons, go to the beach, ride bikes, and just PLAY until we cannot play anymore.
Life is so short gang. I too often forget to just enjoy the ride. This summer, I’m going to focus on what is really important and let everything else just slide.
