I find COMFORT in cardio—it’s my go-to exercise. I can run for hours.
Lately, however, I’ve been pushing outside of that comfort zone and doing exercises I would never choose on my own. (thanks to my fantastic trainer!)
My goal right now is STRONG.
I’ve put my running shoes away for now and have my eye set on this prize:

How are YOU going to meet your goal this year?

My fitness goals for this year have been to regain full range of motion in my right leg (had knee reconstruction a week before Christmas), and I set my eyes on completing tris again this summer. This has been a LONG recovery, but I’m happy with my progress. 14 weeks post-op I have full range of motion & I am now running again! (I was able to hit the pool for laps @ 8 weeks post-op.)
So now, I’m enjoying building my strength level. I’m benching & dead lifting 175 again (hoping to be back at 225 by end of summer), enjoying BodyPump, cycling & Boxing. Being cleared to do squats & lunges was such a wondering feeling!
I love that STRONG is the new skinny!
….and next year’s goals are on the horizon. I have been seriously contemplating training for NANBF. I have a few friends who do these events & almost have me talked into it. Now THAT requires some serious weight training! (Now if I can find a comp suit that has more material than a wash cloth…)
Since I’m very limited in what I can do because of my back I’m working on this very thing! An unassisted pull up. Hope to make it this year.

This year I’m trying to find more of a balance! I have spent the last 2 years going cardio crazy…I’ve lost sight of how good strong feels!!
I love strong women. For me they symbolizes power that completes my lack of it.
My goals this year are for an all around level of fitness that I haven’t yet achieved but put high on the shelf for “one day”. I want my cardio to kick , my strength to powerful and on going. I am currently a stay at home dad during the day and a personal trainer and group fitness instructor by night (well early evening!)
My son, now 9 months old is my motivation. I want him to brag to his friends one day the “my dad can beat up your dad!” Even if I never would, I want his words to be true! Thanks for the great posts even a “workout daddy” enjoys them!
