Anything that is being sold on a late night infomercial with claims it can “reduce your cellulite” or “give you 6 pack abs in 6 weeks” is a SCAM. Yet people buy them in such volumes that makes me wonder WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?! Someone invents some plastic piece of crap, tells the world it will reduce their waist size in less than a month, and then makes off with a handful of cash!
Here are few of my favorites:
1. Shake Weight: There really are no words for this one. The website claims it makes a “great gift”.
Yes, a gag gift because if you think this joke is going to get you “sculpted, sexy arms” you are kidding yourself! The price is reasonable though, compared to the rest on this list! (and the how to video is guaranteed to make you laugh like a 12 year old!)

2. Air Climber Fitness: it claims you will “get results faster than you ever thought possible”.
In reality the only result you will get is a $120 debit in your bank account. Since it is “is literally just like walking up a flight of stairs”, you are better off doing just that!
3. Ab Circle Pro: I wrote about this one a few years ago and I’m baffled as to HOW it’s still around? Who is buying this?! The infomercial claims that Audrina Patridge “depends on it”.
Give me a break! As if Audrina actually uses this piece of crap and if she does, it certainly isn’t how she manages to keep in shape! Current price: $235!!!
4. The flex belt: “get strong toned abs in weeks”. This allows you to “train your abs even if you are too tired or busy!”
IMAGINE THAT!? Why wouldn’t everyone have one of these and have the perfect set of abs? Because it is a load of CRAP. This does not work. Current price: $199!!!
These are just a few that came to my mind. Do you have any to share?

I think you have most of the more ludicrous ones covered! The shake weight is still my favorite though. I’m always baffled as to who buys these products.

The Ab Circle thing is hysterical. That said, it also looks a littttle bit fun to use….like something you’d see on a playground.

My first thought is always, “Who buys this stuff?” Because they wouldn’t make it if no one bought it, right?

How do you explain that? Anywhere in the world, if the product does not work, he is not sold, and down from the shelves. How is it that precisely here, there are such products still being sold? Maybe it really works for some people? Or else what…?

@joe: great question! I think people are willing to buy a product based on the “what ifs”. And then somewhere (usually in tiny print) it says something like “results not typical” or “weight loss may vary”.
