Training for a half marathon in half the time

by workoutmommy on February 22, 2010

Some of you have asked about my official training plan and I have to be honest and say I don’t have one.  (big mistake! Don’t do this at home!)

I was invited to run this race just 4 weeks ago which gave me only about 6 weeks to train.   If you are a runner with a solid mileage base this should not be an issue.   For most people though, you need a good 12 or even 18 weeks to properly prepare your body to run 13.1 miles.  I like to use training plans from Hal Higdon or  Runners World.   In the past these have helped me run some fantastic races with great finishing times.

La SirenitaThis will not be the case at Disney though!  Life happens, snow happens, and husbands travel.  I’ve said all along my training has been sporadic (at best), so I am just looking forward to running with my fellow princesses (and her & her too!) and just enjoying the process.  I might have to do some walking and that is okay.  There will be plenty of fun sights to take in and it will be warm!  (no more two foot snow drifts getting in my way!)

I plan to cross that finish line with a smile on my face no matter what the timing clock says.  (well, since I am exclusively breastfeeding my little bitty guy, I might cross with more of a wince on my face!)

Never underestimate the power of a workout gang!

That is Awesome. I am such a sporadic runner that I never get that “mileage base” that would help me week to week. I find that every consecutive day that I run makes my running that much better than the day before. I am in no place at all to be able to run more than 5 miles right now.

Have a great race in 2 weeks time!

Best of luck! I will be there cheering on at the finish line! You don’t know me but I will be there to support my best friend who is also running!!! Wishing I could be running to, but injury and life has put my running on hold temporarily!!!

I’m at 10 miles and can’t wait until that magical day when we pant across the finish line together! Seriously though, can’t wait to enjoy the weekend with all my fellow Princesses!

I think that there’s not a good idea to write the expository essay by your own efforts! For me, that is more comfortable to buy the biography term paper from essay writing service, just because that can save time and money.

I think that crossing the finish line is the main thing- it doesn’t really matter how you get across it or how long it takes! Go you :)
