The snowpocalypse is ruining my training!

Dear Mother Nature, don’t you know I have a half marathon in just a mere FOUR weeks?  Please cut me a break and stop with this ridiculous snow!

Thanks to the Snowapocalypse/Snowmageddon/SnOMG my training took a big hit this week.

This is a picture of my 2 year old trying to get out of our garage during the blizzard.

It was a crazy amount of snow!

Therefore I only managed 2 running workouts on the dreadmill and they were slow, painful and BORING.   So far, my longest run has only been five miles.   Yikes.

I’m not going to panic though because I know I’ll be running with her.   :)

How were your workouts this week?

Has anyone seen the sunshine lately?  I sure could use some!

We’ve got loads of sunshine. We were supposed to get hit with the storm that occurred on Saturday, but it wound up a big flop with only a dusting. Not enough to accumulate, thank God! I actually went running yesterday (well, more like jogging).

Winter sucks for outdoor running training. I’ve officially made my mind up – by 2015 we need to more to an area that is 75 degree all year long.

I’m jealous you’re running with MizFitty.

Come to California! Sure, we have earthquakes, mudslides, wildfires and riots, but at least there’s less snow!

Giiirl, it’s supposed to snow another 6 to 12 inches tomorrow. Do you want to come over and get snowed in here? Because I’m so over this snow too!!

I signed up for the Shamrock Shuffle 8K in Chicago in March… depending on how it goes I am going to sign up for a half marathon sometime later this spring/summer/fall…. I’ve never been a big runner, but I need a goal to keep myself motivated!

It’ll be interesting running the 8k outside after pretty much only training on the treadmill though…

We got hit here, too, but you guys really got pounded! My sister who lives in the DC area lost power for a couple of days, but has it back now. Is it Spring yet???

So, tell me: how exactly does one go about training for a 1/2 marathon? I’m considering it and looking for advice… :)
