I have five weeks until the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon and this is what I learned this week:
I am essentially starting over from scratch and it is very humbling. Whereas I used to run 7 minute miles, now I am averaging 10.5 minute miles. It’s tough on my ego, but I’m trying to be kind to myself and just keep on moving.
I also have that issue with my foot (Hallux Rigidus) that despite surgery, new shoes (Saucony Triumph) and specialized orthotics, it still hurts. (not so much while I’m running, but definitely afterward. Unfortunately, I think this is my new reality. My foot will never be the same.)
I did manage to log some miles this week, so I’m considering it a success! I went on a longer run and then did two shorter workouts on my treadmill, one of which I had to do at 10pm. Not ideal, but essential. My motto right now (with 3 boys under the age of 5 in my house) is SWEAT=SANITY. I might have to get that made into a tshirt to keep me focused on my goal.

my training is going SO SO SO WELL.
Im almost finished with your tutu for the race and shall luuuube it up with bodyglide and mail to you.
This week I start my tutu and next week I launch OPERATION MAKE US TIARAS.
I should be ready to begin running mid-april.
I too am hoping to complete a half marathon. Except I am starting from square negative 100. Ugh. Also, my half is not in 6 weeks…its in September. Also, I have a small problem maybe you can help me with–sports bras?? I just blogged about it…check it out–any suggestions??

the snow and barfing kid prevented me from running for a 3rd weekend in a row. dang-it! I hope I do well this coming weekend.

Great job on sticking with your training, even when it’s painful & slow! I feel your pain, girl – since my baby’s born my pace (and ego) have suffered terribly:)
