I am SUPER EXCITED (yet terrified) that I will be taking part in Disney World’s Princess Half Marathon Media Mixer!

We all know Disney World is an amazing place for family and fun, but it is also a great place for those of us who love sports and active entertainment.
(remember my last vacation?)
I’ve been invited to Disney to learn all about the sporty and active options and I cannot wait.
The part that terrifies me? I am committing to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon which is on March 7th! My baby will only be 12 weeks old at this point. Yikes.
Can I run a half marathon at 12 weeks postpartum?
You bet!
Will I have a running PR (personal record) or will I finish with energy to spare?
Definitely not!
The best way to jump start your fitness program is with a goal so it’s time for Workout Mommy to get back on the running road for real and make every step count.
I’ll be blogging my training journey, along with Mizfit, so be sure to check back each week to see how things are going. (and unlike Miz, I will definitely NOT be wearing a tiara! )
So gang, any advice for me on how to get in half mary shape over the next 5.5 weeks?

i’ll be curious to see how you do it and would love tips. i am not a runner. at all.
also, we’re in pre-planning stages for Disney now so any tips will be great, especially for those of us with the littlest folks. My girls will be 5 when we go.

How fun!!!!
Sorry, not being a runner, I have no useful advice. But I WILL cheer you on!
Fantastic! Can’t wait to read the journey. Congrats. As far as tips, or mantra, “your body is more than capable of handling the rigors of running.” You physically had 3 babies, and so your body is capable of doing 13+ miles. It is all mental. Good luck.
Hurray and congratulations!!!

Also looking forward to your training and tips. I ran a half-marathon last December (’08) and found out just a few short weeks later that I was pregnant with #3 (surprise!!!). I ran until about 30 weeks pregnant- often with dirty looks being shot at me as I stepped off the treadmill. I have not run since. I am scared of how much fitness I have lost. I would love to have some motivation and tips for getting started back to the gym and running again!
Congrats and best of luck!
How exciting! Do you have a solid running base already? (3xweek 30-40min.runs) There are some plans online, I was following the one on marathonrookie.com. Its a 10 week plan, but if you already have your base miles in you can skip a few weeks.
Good luck!

I think it’s awesome that you will be 12 weeks postpartum. I’m running it too and will be 19 weeks post, and totally agree about having a goal, which is why I entered. Good Luck
