I initially was not going to make any resolution posts because too often they are thrown out the window within two weeks but I NEED something here to hold me accountable.  (which if you read my about me section was the entire point of why I started this blog some 2 1/2 years ago!)

So I am going  back to basics!
Instead of calling them resolutions though, I’m going to call them  ‘plans’.   Because when you plan something,  you are more likely to make it happen.

Plan #1:
Run a 1/2 marathon in 2010.   I need to buy new shoes, lace them up, and start running.  No excuses!

I plan to find the time (either via sitter, husband, or BOB) and put my feet back on the pavement.  I literally cannot wait!  Any suggestions for which race I should sign up for?

Now, what are your 2010 ‘plans’?

Need a good read?   I am reading Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun and it is fantastic.  Each month she details her monthly goals/plans for becoming a happier and better person.  It really gave me some great perspective on my life and changes that I would like to make.

    Hi Lisa!

My “plan” this 2010 is to run eight 5K’s and complete 3 triathlons. First thing is first though, finding out what is wrong with my hip. Making the appt. for the dr. this week. It can’t go without attention any longer.

Oh, I also “plan” on losing 60 pounds.

I did the Hibiscus half marathon in June in Honolulu while training for a full marathon. Combined it with vacation. Now that’s a good PLAN.

But I messed up my knees, so haven’t been able to do it since :-(

    Best of luck.

Once #3 arrives in March and I’m chasing after 3 kids, 2 years and under, I think I’ll feel like I’m running a marathon everyday! but I know I can’t count on that alone…can’t wait to read your tips as I’ll be very much looking forward to getting rid of the past 3 years or pregnancy weight!

    Thanks!

Wow that’s quite the stroller! Very cool.

I’m with you on the wording. “Resolution” has become so elusive in our society.

I’m going to be doing the Dam to Dam in Iowa at the start of June. It’s just a hair under a half marathon.

I want to run one race a month in 2010. I am thinking of starting off with a 5K for the first few months. Move up to a 10K during the summer. Then maybe, just maybe, a 1/2 marathon before the race season finishes. I’ve printed off 3 months worth of local races. I am fearful that I won’t do it because it is cold, snowy and often frozen in Wisconsin, but I am motivated. I got back on the treadmill to train again. I’d taken 2 weeks off of exercise and longer for running due to illness.

Last year my daughter (25 yr) and I ran two half marathons – Race to Robie Creek and The Great Potato.
This year she’s talked me into running the Lake Tahoe Marathon. It will be a first for both of us.

Thanks for posting this. Back before Christmas, I looked into some winter run/walks, but chickened out, due to the COLD. I may have to look at things again for the spring. I completely understand that if I have something looming on the horizon, I will be much more motivated.

    About Me

In my life before kids, I was a personal fitness trainer and self proclaimed fitness junkie. I loved the 5am workouts and evening strength training sessions. Now that I'm a mom, my life is filled with 5am feedings and piles of laundry. I've let my fitness slip and this blog will hopefully provide motivation to help myself (and YOU!) get back in shape. I want to be fit, be healthy, and be happy! No more excuses....it's time to workout mommy!
