Running away

by workoutmommy on November 16, 2009

This weekend has left me wanting to run away.
Away from all the drama, stress, arguments, and screaming.
I know that isn’t an option though because no matter how far you run, it all just comes with you.

So instead I look longingly at my Saucony’s and dream of the time when I can lace them up and run “away” with them.
I miss the runner’s high and the way that life just seems a lot less complicated when I am out running.
I miss the thrill of the long run.
The sweat on my neck.
The smell of fresh air and the sound of my feet gently pounding the pavement.

The thrill of accomplishment when my run is finished.  I always end a run feeling rejuvenated, strong, and happy.
Someday it will be my turn again.

In the meantime,  I am waiting for this little guy who will hopefully bring some peace to my life. (figuratively, not literally of course!) Maybe even heal some wounds?IMG_0340

It’s all so uncertain, so for now I just wait.
and wonder.
and worry.
and hope, because that is all I have left.

Be active today gang and remember to  NEVER underestimate the power of a workout.

Oh my! Tonight, I am going to run in your honor. I’ve had to slack off because of my hip and the H1N1 virus, but I am okay. I think I just need to get back out there because there are people yearning to run when they physically can’t, and here I am physically able and not doing it.

You will get to run soon. Great belly shot!

I just had my second child and when I was pregnant with her I dreamt most nights about running. I felt so free in those dreams. Now she’s 8 weeks old and I’ve gotten back to running and it feels great. It’s especially great to have some alone time. You’ll be there before you know it!

yes, you WILL have that amazing feeling again! I kow it doesn’t seem like it, but it can and will happen if you want it to. I couldn’t run for a year and a half b/c of my neck and thought I was done forever but just last month, I got to go for a jog and it was nothing short of miraculously joyous! The difference: Now instead of running away from things, I’m running towards them :-)
