oscar the grouch Pictures, Images and PhotosThe time change has really thrown a wrench in my routine and body.  I miss the extra hours of sunlight and have found that by the end of the day I’m pretty grouchy.

Therefore, I’ve put together a list of 5 things I like to do to lift my mood.    (Note: some of them I cannot do right now because I am (still) very pregnant, but I would do them if I could.  Hmmm…maybe you could do #3 for me and let me know how it feels?)

1.  Go for a very long walk.   Try it without an iPod or music, just enjoy the sounds of life around you.

2. Take a long, hot bath.   Throw in the bubbles/bath salts, put on some good music and just tune out.   A glass (or two) of wine is a great addition here too.

3.  Go for a run! It doesn’t matter if you can only run a block or you are going out for a 10 miler.   I guarantee the endorphins from your run will carry you through the darker evenings.

4.  Put on some fun music  (Britney Spears anyone?)  and get your groove on.   Show your kids some of your favorite moves, like the sprinkler and running man.   :)

5.  Laugh!  Play your favorite funny movie or watch your favorite comedian and just have a good, hearty laugh.   A big smile goes a long way.

Your turn!  What helps bring you out of a funk?

Putting on fun music always helps me too. Also, a new one for me, I took my first yoga class the other day and I felt so great all day after!

I scroll rapidly down them until I see something I like, then bookmark any that look like they contain ideas that are compatible with anything I’m working on. This sort of ‘ideas cloud’ all goes into the mix when tweaking aspects of a design.

    About Me

In my life before kids, I was a personal fitness trainer and self proclaimed fitness junkie. I loved the 5am workouts and evening strength training sessions. Now that I'm a mom, my life is filled with 5am feedings and piles of laundry. I've let my fitness slip and this blog will hopefully provide motivation to help myself (and YOU!) get back in shape. I want to be fit, be healthy, and be happy! No more excuses....it's time to workout mommy!

    Be nice!
