Thanks for the book review - sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out. And you're right about body image. I used to HATE stretch marks, but now I consider them my badge of motherhood and smile at them. They say, "Look what you did!!!"

the book sounds great! I have always been pretty heavy when ever I have gotten pregnant and it's a struggle at times to love your pregnancy body [especially if you weren't loving it to much before hand]. I'll have to check out that book.

Also, about that celebrity work out thing.... Celebrities are PAID to look their best. It's what there job demands. So they hire babysitters and trainers and all that to get back in shape. I say, for us non-celebrity moms if you can get a nice walk in a few times a week during the first 6 weeks after giving birth, you should be proud. Especially if you have more then one child.

Great post and one that we all need to consider. Loving our bodies no matter the shape would do wonder for our self-esteem. AND doing something as easy as walking 30 minutes a day would give us the energy and stress-relief we need. Now if only I too could do all that. :0)

I've always loved being pregnant, even though I stress over my weight throughout. I know it will come off with hard work after baby comes :)

I often get looks of sympathy when I tell people I am not due until next year (ie, January). It's baby #2, I'm supposed to be bigger this time around, right?!?!?

A few weeks ago, at 20 weeks pregnant sporting a definite baby bump, a girl at the gym told me that abs were made in the kitchen and I would make a lot more progress if I watched what I ate.

...
...
...

"Um, thanks. I'll remember that after I have the baby."

I finished my workout and came home and cried for two days.

Wow did I need to hear that. I actually have twins and have spent the last ten months now trying to lose the 15 pounds I gained during my pregnancy. I wanted to lose it by their first birthday -- which, sadly, came and went, and I HATE all of the pictures with me in them. Isn't that sad? I actually avoid the camera because I don't want to look at pics of me and see that I STILL haven't been able to lose my prego weight. I know, I know - I had twins, right? But I have had a really hard time loving this body. So thanks for the reminder that it IS lovable and fabulous and gave me these two precious babies of mine who fill my life with a vast mix of joy, tears, aggravation, and laughter every day.

That said, I have kind of zoned out on the pregnancy, it was a busy time for my husband and I all around. But I do remember a comment from my husband after he got back from two weeks of AT for the National Guard (I had closed on and moved into our condo and completely gutted it and re-painted all the walls and replaced most of the appliances while he was gone to turn around and put the flooring in and move within a week after he got back). The first thing he said to me after he gave me a huge hug was, "Wow - you are really huge! I think you went from being six months pregnant to nine months pregnant in the last two weeks!" I guess all the up and down and working on so many things pushed those babies right OUT! Hahahahahaha!

I'm so glad I'm not alone. Thank you for this reminder. I am definitely having body image issues with this pregnancy. I think it's because I remember how huge I was with my first and am dreading what's to come. And I'm only 17 weeks along :(

The weirdest comment I had while pregnant was more annoying than weird. Someone asked if I was having twins at 7 months. I wasn't THAT big!

Does the book come with a private babysitter so that mom can actually do the 45 to 90 minutes of intense exercise?
