I’ve lost 100 pounds (and my husband has lost almost 70 pounds) since January through diet and exercise (mostly running and walking), and I would love a free subscription to Fitness to keep me motivated! I have two small children and can’t afford to pay for childcare while I work out, so my two tips for others in that situation are 1) work out while the kids are napping–I did this for the first few months I was trying to lose weight, doing an exercise dvd at very low volume during afternoon nap/quiet time. 2) Trade off childcare/workout times with your spouse–now that my hubby and I are both into jogging outside, we swap every morning–he jogs while I take care of the kiddos, then we switch. My other top tips are to pick something you enjoy doing and just keep doing it. It takes awhile for it to become habit, but once it does, it’s SO worth it!

I would love a subscription to Fitness magazine. I had lost a substantial amount of weight a few years ago and then due to illness and lack of exercise I gained it all back plus 20. I’m trying to incorporate fitness back into my busy life as a working mother of 4. The best tip I can offer, and would love to see something about in Fitness, is that I try to incorporate my family into my exercise routines. Whether some of the kids or my spouse goes walking with me in the evening or my teenage son and I lift weights together, we get some quality family time that is so hard to find and some exercise at the same time.
My favorite fitness tip is use circuits to make your full body workout less boring. I alternate a strength training move with a cardio move (like squat jumps). It keeps my heart rate up & I’m blasting the calories without getting bored!
I recently lost about 20lbs. I have found that making sure I eat breakfast is crucial. I high fiber cereal and a piece of fruit usually keeps me full til lunch and I have a healthy snack in between. I also weigh myself every morning or atleast every other morning. It helps to keep me on track.

I think fitness magazine has great tips for all walks of fitness life.
My best fitness tip would be to never forget your cardio–cardio can be anything. And get your kids involved. My 3 yo and I pretend a jump rope is a snake and we jump over it from one end to the other in different ways.

My favorite fitness tip is just to get it done. It doesn’t matter how long or how hard, just do something!

I have been working for almost a year (nov 8th will be an entire year) and I have lost about 45 lbs. I have been up and down and I have been excited and pissed off about my weight loss. I started eating breakfast and that has been the best thing for me…I don’t get starving and overeat..this has helped me be conscious of what I am eating.
Exercise wise – my only tip is to keep trying until you find something you love doing. In the beginning all I could do was walk and now I LOVE my walks more than anything else. I am constantly trying new DVDs! There is something out there for everyone …but you have to try them to know for sure!!
keep it real

I would like to see them add more travel exercise tips to the magazine.
One of my favorite exercise tips is to sit on an exercise ball as you work at your desk. Love it!

My fitness tip? Do not weigh yourself too frequently. Use the scale as a tool, but not a device that will change your mood. Instead, use your scale as a device that will keep you on track or help you make changes to your training or nutrition programs.

I committed to a healthier lifestyle in January. I followed some advice from Jerry Seinfeld, who said that once he has a goal, he makes sure he does something to move towards that goal EVERY day — and he marks it off on a big wall calendar.
Even if it’s just lunges, squats and planks before bed, when I look at that calendar, I find myself making sure I do something fitness-related every day. I don’t want to break the string of red “X” marks!
fitness dvds are inexpensive and a good way to lose weight. IF YOU DONT HAVE A Full hour or 30 minutes of workout time, do 10 minutes at a time through out the day
Working out too much can be just as bad as not working out enough

Hi there,
I recently lost about 60 pounds and throughout that, came up with many tips. However, the BEST thing I ever did was to go for a walk (on top of any other daily workout) for at least ten minutes AFTER dinner. Whether it’s a short stroll, or a 10-minute speed walk, that after-dinner exercise made a huge difference in my post-meal energy level. It made me less likely to sit right down on the couch and flip on the TV. Instead, I was finding myself cleaning after that walk, playing with the dog, or wanting to play a board game or something. Plus, it stopped the calories I took in for dinner to just sit there.
Hope that helps someone:)
In order to loose weight, there are several factors that come into play:
1. Drink LOTS of water.
2. Watch your heart rate when doing cardio – have you heard of zones? Here is an article. http://www.brianmac.co.uk/hrm1.htm
It is so important to train in different zones – watch your heart rate! Don’t waste your time when you are working out.
3. Include weights!!!! Once i started to include weights 3x a week I began to see a difference in my body.
4. Spice up your work outs to keep it interesting. If I don’t feel like running, biking, swimming, etc. I will jump around and dance while watching Ellen or listening to fun music. My heart rate gets higher doing this than running – And I am having fun!
5. Eat protein after every work out.
6. Be confident in yourself and your workouts will be more than just a miserable task.

Get a dog! Then walk or run him. They stare at you with those puppy eyes and you have no choice but to take them for a walk. Guilt works.
Find something you love doing and then make it part of your life. I take karate classes with my kids, go for family hikes, walk/run with my hubby, and lift weights while my kids play nearby. If I relied on a gym membership I would never get a workout in.
Hmm, my fav tip… hmmm… make it fun. Not really an interesting thing but its key. So yeah, gimme the magazine now!
A great tip is how to keep motivated to exercise during the winter when it is so cold outside and you just want to snuggle on the couch under a warm blanket instead.
I would love to see an article in Fitness Magazine about Getting Enough Nutrients When
One is a Vegetarian. Protein is my biggest
problem! Please count me in. Fitness Magazine
rocks…..
Many thanks to you…..Cindi
At the beginning of the summer, I promised myself a new pair of shoes if I made it to the gym for 21 days straight. I did it, got my shoes, and am hooked on the gym. Despite working full time and having two kids (ages 6 &3), I get to the gym 6 days a week…sometimes even 7. So make a deal with yourself and get going!
