Fall means marathons and races! Who’s doing what?

by workoutmommy on September 30, 2009

It’s prime running season these days, with tons of fun marathons coming up.    Sadly, this is not my year. (again)
But someday I will be back and hopefully qualify for Boston!

In the meantime, I’ll be cheering on some of my blogging friends like Roni and Heather as they take part in the Baltimore Marathon next month.   And I’m always in awe of Jennifer, who is gearing up for the Richmond Marathon in November.  Jennifer was featured as one of my fit mommies who did the Goofy challenge* while pregnant.   She is doing Goofy again this coming year, although presumably not pregnant this time! :)

milestoneIf you are looking for a unique gift for the runner in your life, I highly recommend you check out Mile Stones from Peak Inspiration.  I won this cool necklace a few months ago and I wear it proudly. (and I am SO SORRY because I cannot remember whose blog I won it from. Pregnancy brain! Please leave me a comment here if it was you so I can give you credit!)

There are more mile stones for other sports, such as triathlons, volleyball, and baseball.   This is a fun way to congratulate someone on an important athletic event in their life.

So gang, what are you running/biking/doing this fall? Tell me all about it so I can live vicariously through you—and cheer you on too!

*The Goofy Challenge involves running the Disney Half Marathon on Saturday and then the full Disney marathon the next day.  If you finish both races in the time limit you will be awarded the coveted Goofy medal.

I have three 5K races coming up: one in each December, November, and one this coming Saturday. Having a race in each month keeps me motivated to train and helps a worthy charity at the same time.

Signed up for the Napa Wine Country Half Marathon on dirt on Oct 31 and another 17km trail run in December. Excited to be at least entered even though my training is very minimal!

I am racing cyclocross. After racing 30+ road races last season (with a full-time job, a hubby and a baby), I am ready for the cross training cyclocross provides. Also training for the ski season. Bring on the snow! Check out my website for cyclocross race reports.
