Store bought cupcakes. Cheap and delicious.

This is the comparison I made to my husband when he brought home cupcakes from a local cupcake bakery. As I mentioned in previous posts, I am on a limited sugar diet, therefore cupcakes are definitely on the restricted list.

So I was a little frustrated when my husband took my son to Cupcake Heaven, (which is true to it’s name) and and let him pick out a special cupcake for me.   I had to explain to my little guy that mommy can’t eat cupcakes right now but it was very sweet of him to pick an Oreo one for me since he knows how much I love Oreos.  (insert sobbing right here. That cupcake was calling my name!)

My son wasn’t crushed for too long once he realized that half of that extra cupcake was going right to him; the other half to his brother.

Later I asked my husband if he would bring crack to someone who was in rehab because it was just cruel to bring that cupcake home knowing that I couldn’t have any.   He claimed he forgot.   It must be his pregnancy brain, right?

Anyone else have a thoughtful husband (or wife or significant other) who was trying to do something nice but ended up doing the exact opposite?

Here is something you should NOT forget today:  It is move it Monday!  That means it is time to get up and get moving gang.
Do some form of exercise today for AT LEAST 30 minutes.

Oh Lisa!! You showed admirable restraint. I might have thrown said cupcake at husband’s head. I don’t have gestational diabetes but I am trying not to go crazy with the sweets during this pgcy and so I stopped buying ice cream (a big weakness of mine). I told my husband about it and asked him to only buy himself the single-serve package if he wanted some. What does he do? Comes home with two half gallons. At least he tried to pick flavors I didn’t like… sigh.

Oh, I’m so sorry! I’ve had the Oreo one from Cupcake Heaven and it was divine! Uh…I mean, it tasted *horrible*. Like dirt! You didn’t miss a thing by not having it!

And, yes, my husband suffers terribly from the “it’s the thought that counts” type things like that all the time!

Luckily, I know no one in rehab, but I am guilty of buying sweets for something special. Those darn hormone swings don’t help much either when hubby is trying to be nice, but turns out being an enabler.

Oh, I had GD and I totally would have thrown something at my husband if he’d brought a cupcake home “for me.”

Probably the cupcake. SMUSH in the hair.

Yeah, it’s the thought that counts, but sometimes you have to THINK about what your doing before you do it!
Pregnancy is hard enough, and GD makes it even harder!

Great post! I am due just 8 days before you and go to take my 3 hour glucose tomorrow morning :( I am limiting my sugar due to candida though. It’s torture! I was so bummed when I found out I failed my first test. I was very agry and felt like a failure. I mean come on. We eat a whole foods diet (minus the chocolate cake after dinner ;) ) and I’m not overweight and very active. Although when she told me that I failed I was also told I am to be on light bed rest due to contractions. I cried. No more bike rides and no more icecream….could the day get any worse? I’ll be counting down the days with you in hopes that some yoga is in my near future!
