Win it! Trio Building Set

by workoutmommy on September 18, 2009

*****This contest is now closed*****

The following is a non-fitness related post. If you are looking for a daily fitness fix,  do 25 jumping jacks and 15 squats right now.
Now, it’s time for push ups.  At least 15.  Go on now, get them done before you continue reading.
Ok, you ready and sweating now?  Good, let’s read on!

P6838_b_1I was very excited when I was picked by  MomSelect to review the new Fisher Price TRIO Building Set with Storage. My little guys love to build (and destroy) and this seemed like the perfect toy for them.

It is targeted for kids ages 3-5 with the easy-click bricks, sticks, and panels, plus a play figure.  It makes building a “snap” for kids.

Please click on over to my review page read more about the Trio Building Set.

WOO HOO! I love contests, especially ones with new ideas for my boys!
For fitness this weekend, my husband is training for the Chicago Marathon and this is his long run weekend (22 miles) So, I’m loading up the boys (ages 1 & 3)in the bike trailer and am going to try to keep up with him for 22 miles. Looking forward to it! :) Hopefully one of these day I’ll be the one running it too!
Have a great weekend!

i prefer to walk as far as i can as fast as i can. we take the kids down the closest parking lot/play ground and let them ride their bikes all over it. it is great exercise and a great way for them to practice riding without training wheels in a wide open space.

My husband has been taking my daughters running every morning, and we’ve been getting a lot of family fitness by raking the leaves and then jumping in them :)

We are keeping cool and fit in our 108 degree weather by swimming in our pool. I can tread water while my little ones do cannon balls.

“Mommy, look at me!”

Happy weekend :)

I try to keep a good balance of relaxation and exercise for the kids on the weekend since they need both. On Saturday (today) they both has soccer games. My daughter is only 4, and she has no clue what the game is about but she loves running up and down the field. My five year old son loves to “run” with me, so tomorrow we will run about a mile together (run/walk combo) and then we will come back and go for a family bike ride. My theory is to make the exercise as fun for them as I can– so they don’t think of it as something they HAVE to do or don’t want to do. They also play outside on the swingset for hours while I work in the yard.

First off let me say I found your blog while researching fitness while pregnant. I’m 22 weeks and this is my second kid. I didn’t workout with my daughter and I never lost the weight and I swore I wouldn’t do the same this time around and so far I’m doing good with exercising at least 4 days a week. I have a daughter who is 3 and she would love these blocks. I’ve seem them in the store and they look pretty cool..

Ok, back to fitness this week. I did a 2.5 mile run today and then walking for another 2 miles. My hubs and I took our daughter swimming for 2 hours today. I plan on running or walking Monday thru Thursday this week before my company arrives for the weekend. I will be taking my daughter swimming each day as well. She loves the water and it’s a good workout for her and I. If the weather is nice in VA then we play outside as well..Oh, and I will cut the grass this week like I do each week. (that counts as exercise too right)… :-)

It was rainy for us this weekend so we had to get creative about our fitness. My son and I turned up the music and had kitchen dance parties — serious calories burned. Later I hit the treadmill, and my husband played racquetball. Fun times!

I would be the best aunt ever if this made it to my nephews for Christmas. They would love to build it and then destroy it!

We went out geocaching for fitness. It was a ton of fun, and we got to expose my 2 year old to the joy of hiking through the woods. The baby rode in a carrier. I pointed out to my husband that the key to loving exercise is to find something you truly enjoy–for him it is something like geocaching. He didn’t even think of it as exercise!

Well, this weekend, we went to the fair, and while that wasn’t good for eating (altho we were restrained and merely shared one fried dough between the four of us) we did walk around a LOT.

Well, I ran. My son, on the other hand, ran, played on the swings, jumped on the couch (and the bed and the floor), did tons of somersaults, and was just the generally active little guy that he normally is!

I walk at least 5 times a week – by myself. This is my stress-reliever while the kids are at home playing with Daddy. Both children are naturally active and always on the move (they’re 3 and 1). I want them to always have that energetic enthusiasm for movement – be it riding a bicycle, walking in the neighborhood or dancing in the living room!

My family is coming with me to the Quad Cities, as I run in my fourth half marathon of the racing season. My five year old daughter will also be running in her second kids race of 2009.

Erm, fitness. That’s a tough one. I guess I’ll be running up and down the stairs, fielding requests for “juice” and “not that kind of juice” and “more juice” and “no, the first kind of juice” and “why did she get more juice?” Does that count?

Well, we’re currently sick, so unfortunately no fitness. But we like to go to our park. After kids finish playing, we take a walk around the pond there.

We always have busy weekends, so we try to incorporate fitness into our fun activities. We have a soccer game on Saturday and we are going apple picking (a lot of walking to the different varieties of apples). On Sunday after church we are going on the local county farm tour – lots of walking. We usually squeeze in some bike riding and general outdoor playing as well. I usually go running after my daughter is in bed, my down time.

Thanks for sharing Lisa! I love contests! Let’s see… this weekend I will be walking around the Eastern market with my sister and then Sunday my family will be doing the Farm Tour for PWC. We’ll also probably be wrestling at some point and chasin the kids in the playground. Not an official routine but I’m always sweatiung afterward : )

Oh well :) Worth a try! Congrats to Mary! And thanks, Lisa, for this new toy recommendation! I’ll keep it in mind for Christmas this year.
The bike ride was fun! It was an effort for me to keep up for 20 miles pulling the 2 kids, but it was a beautiful fall day.
