I was much more active with my first two pregnancies. This one however has knocked me out and I’m not sure why.
- Running? Gone after the 5k in Chicago. Ouch.
- Spinning? Just had to give that up as well. Again, ouch.
- Boot camp? Gone as well. Too much jumping and bouncing. Double ouch.
That leaves me with walking, which can be a great form of exercise. Unfortunately it’s hell hot out there and sometimes it just doesn’t give me the endorphin kick that I need to maintain my sanity.
I might head back to the swimming pool and water aerobics, even though it is my least favorite of them all. The water does make me feel weightless though, which at this point is just what I need.
So gang, it’s time for YOU to step it up a notch or two so I can live vicariously through you!
Please tell me all about the marathons, races, bike trips, hikes, or general fitness classes you are doing this week or month!
Never underestimate the power of a workout!

I hiked at the end of my pregnancy and it felt great. Try hiking with your family early in the morning before it gets hot out.
I basically stopped exercising during my pregnancy. I never want that to happen again :p Maternity leave is over now though, and today was my first day back in the exercise routine. Up at 5:15 for 30 minutes of run/walking, some stretching, and day 1 of my new strength routine. It feels great!
No marathons or anything like that for me, but I’m starting running
My trainer is gradually increasing the intensity of my workouts!

Hmmm, I don’t know why you haven’t been as active this time around?? Maybe because you’ve got two little ones to chase around, tee hee
But that’s good enough exercise right? Let’s see…for what I’m doing this week? I’m coming to your in-home boot camp for some motivation (you just don’t know it yet
Thanks ahead of time.

I’m continuing to bellydance throughout this pregnancy with some slight modifications. Great thing about this dance is you focus on your core muscles and there is no bouncing/jumping or jarring movements. My instructor has also been great, since she danced through her own pregnancy 2yrs ago.

Now that the kids are back in school I’ve started running again and it feels fabulous! Not sure about any marathons, but I’m definitely making strides in my neighborhood.

Well it’s not this month, but I’m training for a marathon in October. I’m in full on training mode right now (I post training updates on Tuesdays if you’re interested). I did my first marathon last October, and am so excited to run great this year!

De in D.C.,
Bellydancing is GREAT during pregnancy, especially since some think it was historically developed to prep women’s bodies to make birth easier!

De in DC; i have never tried belly dancing, thanks for the suggestion. Do you go to a studio in DC?
Have you done prenatal yoga? It was my saving grace during my second pregnancy. It isn’t as active as other things, but it felt SO nice.
As far as living vicariously, I just ran a half marathon on Sunday. Good times.
Good luck staying sane during this time.

Lisa, I definitely need to do some yoga—just can’t seem to find a class around me. Maybe i’ll try out a DVD. Congrats on your 1/2! I’m so jealous!
