In an ideal world, I would:
- have two dedicated hours each morning to workout, stretch, shower, and eat breakfast. All alone!
In reality:
I have to grab any free moment I get to squeeze in some exercise. Today, I ran up/down the stairs for 15 minutes while my boys beat each other played with their trains. I also got a handful of lunges through the kitchen and some push ups in the toy room. Will it get me in marathon shape? No, but it is better than nothing!- I rarely remember to stretch, thus my hamstrings are dangerously tight. I need to work on this!
- Shower? No comment.
- Breakfast? Usually I can throw something down my throat while trying to break up fights, passing out crayons, or emptying the dishwasher. Far from relaxing, but again better than nothing.
How about you? What does your ideal vs. reality look like?

I know some may think I’m selfish but I make my ideal a reality! I either go to the gym for cardio and weights or run/workout at home for an hour minimum each day. My husband and son have learned that I have, not want, to do this in order to make their life easier! Here’s my new blog address!

hmmm in working out I do kinda make my ideal a reality—but mainly because my ideal is REALLY REALISTIC
in the world of work? of exploring passions? notsomuch.

I think our ideals are the same, but my reality is that I do nothing. I have a really bad habit of having an “all or nothing” attitude which I know is bad, but I don’t how to change it!

Sometimes I set the timer for 15 minutes and do the stairs, or go out and place chase for as long as my kids can last. I made an exercise game for them that if I really get into it gets me a good 20 minutes of variety. I like to think that all these little things add up!
Tabitha–not selfish at ALL! My husband needs to learn a few lessons from yours. (but that’s a whole different blog post!)
Hannah, great ideas and YES, they add up!
Thea-I sometimes think that way too and then I remember how good I’ll feel after doing something. Try setting a timer and do it for 5 minutes. Chances are you might go longer and if not, at least you got 5 minutes done!

Haha! My reality sounds pretty much like your reality. What is it about breakfast that is such a crazy time of day?!

In an ideal world I would never go to the gym, eat all the food I want, and never have to worry about it ever!
Reality- up at 6am, watch what I eat, hit the gym, slave on the treadmill.
Ah such is life.
Ideal: 8+ hours of quality, deep sleep, wake up happy, cheerful, smiling kids who get dressed, come downstairs, and eat a healthy breakfast with no complaints.
Get kids off to school, enjoy a good cuppa joe, then get outside for a nice walk, hike, or bike ride.
That doesn’t happen very often. Or, y’know, ever.
In an ideal world I would be able to eat burgers, pizzas and other delicious tasting foods and still have the body of an Adonis without going to the gym.
In the real world I have to work my butt off in the gym, and if I eat burgers and pizzas they go straight to my gut.

Ideally, I’d like to be as flexible as that chick
Okay, okay…at least an hour each wee early morning would be lovely to work out or an evening bike ride.

Like you it seems I can either get in a workout OR a shower and real clothes. To get both is a pipe dream (she types in workout clothes hoping to sweat later today…)
