Music that makes you want to move!

by workoutmommy on March 7, 2009

The music on my Ipod was so stale that I could not take it anymore.   So I sent out an SOS on Facebook and Twitter asking for suggestions for new workout tunes.

Here are some of their suggestions:

Thanks for all the ideas!  Now I have some new tunes to help fuel my workouts and keep me moving.

Bon JoviI must admit though, my all-time favorite is still Livin’ On A Prayer!

(Dear Jon Bon Jovi, I am eagerly awaiting your next tour. Please come back soon!)

How about you gang? What song(s) motivates you to get up and move?

You have got to check out http://inthegym.net for workout playlists. They’re organized by music preference and workout type.

Tanya, as I was writing this, I said to myself “don’t forget to include Tanya’s site” and somewhere along the way I completely FORGOT! I’m sorry! I’m glad you put this in the comments because your playlists and song clips are GREAT!

I know this is a mommy site AND I am not a mommy (I’m a daddy) but I do want to share some workout tunes that I think might motivate some of the readers of this site. IF you like electronica, upbeat, high energy music you might like: Hooverphonics or Blue Six. Steady beats that are great to do Tabat’s to.

I’m a little bummed you left out my Ting Tings recommendation!

And, as you know I heart JBJ too (from our concert experience together) but all I wanted to hear during my first marathon was “OOOOOOOOHHHHH we’re half way there!” and finally did, only at mile 23. Whatever. I took it!

JBJ gets me through many a tough run! (And so does “Gimme More” but I don’t admit that to many people!

It depends upon what I am doing – running or weights. For running or other cardio I am usually listening to pretty heavy rock, such as metallica and (believe it or not) AC/DC Live.

I would suggest:
Coheed and Cambria and Fall Out Boy as well as some select songs from the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. Always get’s me going.
