What are you running this spring?

by workoutmommy on February 28, 2009

Road RaceThe spring racing season is right around the corner and I am tempted to sign up for a local race.

My foot is mostly healed, thanks to orthotics, physical therapy, and time.

My mental state, however, is in the gutter so I am hopeful that a 5 or 10k might help boost my spirits. I always love the feeling of accomplishment after a race and having my kids cheering for me at the end.

So, I’m looking at the local calendar and trying to decide.

How about you? What fitness goals do you have for yourself this spring? And if you have any suggestions for a race in the Washington DC area, please let me know!

Have an active weekend gang!

So far this spring I am only registered for the Rexcorp 5K in East Meadow, NY on 5/2.

My goal is to do one 5K every month from April to September. I haven’t found an April event I like yet. I better get on that.

Well how cool are you? Our city has a 5K in July every year. I’m gearing up for that one. I have foot issues as well. I’m going to a special running shoe store today to get some new ones. I’m excited. My son is training for a 1 mile race at the end of March. We are training together. It’s great.

Hmmm, don’t know if my shins can take another race…but my fitness goal is to stay active outside as much as possible with the kiddos (& you, hehe)…can’t wait for the nice weather!

My goal this year is to run some sort of race every single month! I am trying to mix it us with mostly 5k’s but a few 10k’s and my first half marathon in april. I love this goal for myself because at each race I always aim to run well but to not push myself too much so as not to get injured so that I can run the next month… plus, if I do bad on one race, its just one race out of 12!! There is always the next one :)

Just bike racing at the moment. It’s either that or be a widow on Sundays. Didn’t realize you lived so close to D.C.

I’m currently learning to run! I walk/run around the track at the park……3 miles most days…..6 on good days :) It’s a real challenge for me but I feel the difference in my muscle and endurance each week.

Glad to hear your foot is better!

I’m running the National Half marathon this month and then the Run to Register the following week down in Quantico to get a head jump on registering for Marine Corps marathon this year. In May I’m doing a sprint triathalon in Centreville, so once the half marathon is over, I’ll be focusing on that!

There are some fun trail races going on in the NoVa area this spring that some friends of mine are running. I can get you the info if you want.

I’m sure there are all sorts of great races in DC, and I should run one of them. Too bad I’m running in Nashville instead.

There’s a series of 5K Trail races near me called the “Beat The Recession Races”, all of the races have an entry fee of only $20, so I hope to do a few of them in late May, early June.
