It is time for another installment of “One Fit Mommy”! As I surf around the blogosphere, I come across fit moms (and dads too!) who inspire me to fitness.  From there, I hunt them down and force them to tell me their secrets, which I then share with you! There are no excuses with these parents, just support on how we can ALL find time for fitness!

napOur fit mommy this week is Cynthia, a very busy mom of two young kids.   You might recognize her as  Nap Warden from The Chronicles of a SAHM and be sure to visit NWdesigns for her custom blog designs.  She’s got her hands full but she is serious about her commitment to fitness.

I got the chance to meet Cynthia in person last year and not only is she “One Fit Mommy”, but she is also very nice and absolutely hilarious!

Please read on for more about Nap Warden and how she juggles life and fitness:

Q: Have you always been fit?  What inspired you to live a fit lifestyle?

No, I started running and staying in shape since I was on the tennis team in college. After college I fell out of it for many years. One summer day, I was playing softball. I couldn’t believe how sore I was after the game? I kept thinking “I’m young, I shouldn’t feel this way!” I have been running ever since.

Q: What advice do you have for moms who claim they don’t have time for exercise?

You just have to make time…you have to. I work my butt off so I can afford our health club (they have an excellent kiddo playroom). You have to define your situation, and then work around it. Wake up an hour earlier, go to bed an hour later…what ever it takes.

Q: What is your favorite exercise and why?

These days, I’m really enjoying swimming. I started swimming to cross train for my marathon. It was very hard at first, but I have come to love it. It is just so isolating, just me and the water…which I LOVE.

Q: Are you more of a cardio mommy or strength training mommy?

Cardio. I wish I was more strength training. I know I need to add that to my workouts.

Q: Do you have any mental tricks that you use when you just don’t feel like working out?

I hate to sound like a NIKE ad…just do it.

Q: Random question:  favorite brand of running shoes?

Running shoes are tough. I ran the marathon in Etonics. They just change them so fast, that what worked for you one season, may not the next. The Etonics are totally blown out, and I have to go shopping for a new pair.

Thank you Cynthia for sharing your fitness with all of us!

I look forward to seeing you again….maybe BlogHer this summer?

Ok gang, have you moved your body today?  Get up and get moving! NO EXCUSES!

Great Choice for One Fit Mommy! NapWarden Rocks!!!

I really enjoy this feature on your blog. My favorite part is learning about what shoes they prefer and why! Guess it is because it is not usually something they would post about…

    About Me

In my life before kids, I was a personal fitness trainer and self proclaimed fitness junkie. I loved the 5am workouts and evening strength training sessions. Now that I'm a mom, my life is filled with 5am feedings and piles of laundry. I've let my fitness slip and this blog will hopefully provide motivation to help myself (and YOU!) get back in shape. I want to be fit, be healthy, and be happy! No more excuses....it's time to workout mommy!
