Groups of young girls in $200 sneakers and way more makeup than I wore at my wedding giggled and gossiped in the cardio areas. Most of the members are focussed on improving their fitness but we still have time for the odd chat or laugh. Maybe its an Australian thing but our "Jocks" do their upper body including backs but forget their legs, very funny looking at all the chicken legs! Now I belong to a gym that just has a few locations, and it doesn't seem so bad. Everyone refers to it as the meat market. I pay a little extra to go to a gym that is closer to my home, and because it is smaller and more expensive, it seems to discourage a lot of the clicks, and just a attracts people who are serious about getting fit. I love it, and it's so worth it. I don't do meat markets, even if i was single. We have on local gym that is very much a High School. Everyone refers to it as the meat market.
