The cookies have been eaten, the eggnog is all gone, and it is time for us to MOVE!!
Don’t wait until the new year to start your routine again, begin now.
Stand up.
Put on your shoes.
and move, move, MOOOOOOOVE!!
That is what I had to tell myself this weekend. It’s tough to get going again, but I am glad that I did.
I also was able to workout with a 20 lb weighted walking vest, thanks to the folks over at Valeo.

I was VERY surprised at how tough this made my workout! I wore it while walking on the treadmill and I was huffing and puffing after just a few minutes. It really made me think about just how much harder our bodies have to work when we are carrying an extra twenty pounds.
I also wore it while playing my Wii Fit and it definitely takes hula hooping to a whole new level!
My final exercise for the day was to go up and down the stairs fifteen times. I was covered in sweat by the time I reached number fifteen and felt as light as a feather when I finally took the vest off.
If you are looking for something to spice up your workouts, I definitely recommend a weighted walking vest.
Here are some of the features:
- Removable 1lb packs for weight adjustment from 1-20 lbs
- Distributes weight evenly around torso to help improve cardiovascular conditioning and strength during workout
- Comfortable durable padded nylon and breathable mesh with two adjustable clip belts
- Convenient accessory pocket holds MP3 player (not included)
- Reflective binding for improved visibility
You can get a Valeo 20-Pound Weighted Vest on Amazon (with free shipping!) or from your local sporting goods store.
So gang, how are you moving MORE today?
No excuses!

I saw a man walking around our neighborhood with this on and it scared me! I had never seen it before! Interesting to know what it’s for!

I have my own little weighted vest in the form of my 16 month old. My little munchkin will only take a nap in her back carrier or in the running stroller. Unfortunately, I’ve had some IT band issues recently so I haven’t been able to run. As crazy as this sounds, I’ve actually been doing the stationary bike with Kaylee on my back while she sleeps. You wouldn’t think extra weight on the stationary bike would do anything, but it is harder. (And now you’re wondering how I don’t sweat all over her right? I actually wear a waterproof jacket. And yes, I know, crazy.)

I LOVE the weighted vest. When I was rehabbing my knee it was one of the BEST options to add resistance to my therapy without actually adding weight to my knee!!! Great workout and a way to step your game up!

I remember having one of these when I was a kid. Actually, it was my parents, but they never used it. I remember wearing it during a game of tag and boy, did it slow me down! Now, my weighted vest is my daughter (much like what Katie said above)! I’m always carrying her around…it’s killing my back, but what can I do? She’s young and needy…

Sounds intriguing but unpleasant, like many exercise options. Wonder if they have the opposite kind, filled with helium to make exercising easier? Or one filled with cupcakes, for post exercise gluttony? I’m guessing not!
Thanks for the info though, I was curious about these.

This sounds awesome! Imagine doing all your household tasks while wearing it! I wear ankle weights a lot when I am doing housework and love the feeling when I take them off. I so have to get this!

I LOVE my weighted vest!!!! Aside from the added benefit to my walking workouts, I feel like Kind of a bada** in it, like I’m gonna go raid a drugrunner’s house or something.
But maybe that’s just me.
It’s a great thing to have, and they sell them at Target now.

I’ve tried a weighted vest before and it was definitely an interesting experience. I don’t know how people run in them but it definitely upped the ante on plank!!

Thanks for the review on the weighted vest. Just heard about those recently. I have a pair of 10lb weights that work fine for me right now, but see how this would help add more resistance in other exercises and free up my arms.
