Weekend wrap-up

by workoutmommy on November 9, 2008

It has been such a fantastic weekend, thank you so much to the Quaker team and PR group for this fantastic opportunity!

Here is just a sampling of all the great products that they have given us:

My suitcase is literally stuffed with oatmeal, so if my plane is delayed I know that at least I will NOT be hungry.

Speaking of hungry, I have to share a funny story. I never travel so I did not fully understand the high mark-up price on the items in the mini-bar. When I arrived on Friday, I was STARVING and needed to grab a quick snack, so I gobbled up a Kit Kat bar that was staring me in the face. (Yes, I know….very poor choice, in more ways than one! Always travel with healthy snacks, ALWAYS!)

I was quite surprised today to learn that little candy bar cost me $9.37! For a candy bar?! When I told this story to Tanya, she simply replied “why didn’t you just have a Quaker bar?”

Yes, I am a moron. I didn’t realize I had a bagful of them! They certainly would have been a MUCH better choice. Oh well, lesson learned. I won’t ever touch the mini-bar again!

Thanks to everyone (especially Nap Warden!) for coming out to visit us!

It’s time to get on a plane and head back to my reality.

Hi Lisa:

It was wonderful meeting you and the rest of the amazing food and fitness bloggers at the Quaker event.

I hope you had a great time, learned lots and most importantly, enjoyed every bite of that %*&#@ $$$ Kit Kat! You are not a moron!

You, just like me and everyone who reads your blog, don’t make rational decisions when we are hungry. Next time you travel, you will come packin’ some eats…good stuff, that is!

Keep up the wonderful job you are doing…you are an inspiration to us all!!

Ooh, the sneaky mini bar! That’s insane. Could by so much food at the grocery store with that amount of money… am glad that your weekend went so well though!

Now, aren’t you glad to be back home and sleeping in your own bed?

Sounds like a fun weekend!

Whenever we go on vacation, we have to keep a close eye on the kids to make sure they don’t raid the minibar. It’s very tempting for them, and they don’t understand that it’s waaaay to expensive, lol!

Woa, I have a lot of experience with mini-bars but I don’t think I have paid that much for a candy bar!

Here are a couple of posts I wrote about those devils:

that is too funny. I had some sushi from friday nite that I tried to store in the mini fridge and was SO careful not to move a thing, b/c I didn’t wanna get charged $50 for a mini bottle of vodka!
SOSOSOSO great meeting you, Workout Mommy :-)

Ugg, I hate those mini-bars (b/c I’m always getting in late and always starving, too!) And you don’t even have to eat anything half the time to get charged, just accidentally nudge something’s sensor and onto your bill it goes. So annoying..
