When blogging takes over

by workoutmommy on October 14, 2008

I have found that the more I blog (or read blogs) the less time I have to do everything else in my life, including working out. How is that for irony? I’m writing a workout blog, yet I’m starting to NOT make the time for working out because I need to write blog posts.
SEXY SHADOW
So if you don’t see me here (or commenting on your blog) for a day or two, it’s simply because I needed to use my computer time for something else. Maybe I am taking a walk with the kids. Maybe I’m lifting weights. Or pretty soon, I might actually be running again. (Yay!)

How about you? Have you found that blogging has taken over your life?

good god, woman, of course! You (as in, we all) need to take a break and step away from the computer. It can become the biggest time suck ever. Enjoy your time away and know that your followers won’t desert you just bc you don’t blog all day every day :-)

Oh the irony, right! I totally feel you on this. Sometimes I just schedule it in, and hey, if you miss a day or two blogging, it’s no biggie in the larger scope of things, right?!

It seems to take away from quite a bit. Good for you for taking time away from the blogosphere for yourself :)

I know the feeling. And blogging does not pay any of my bills, but is a relatively “cheap” hobby. But in order to come up with topics, I find that I constantly need to keep reading about health and fitness, hence less time working out than I would like. But that is why I basically cut my posting schedule in half.

It’s all nuts! Which is why I’m going nuts! I was out on a shoot yesterday all day away from my computer – it’s nice to get away from this thing now and then. BTW, I like your blog’s new look! ;)

Yep! Plus I do web and blog design at home, so I find myself constantly checking the computer at times. I have to remind myself that I have to schedule in computer/work/blogging time. RIght now I’m doing better, only working in early morning or at night, and only starting to work AFTER I have gotten my morning workout in!! But yes, I do seem to get consumed by it and I too have taken a few days off this past week!

I think Leslie summed up my feelings pretty well! Of course I know exactly where you are coming from:) I need to learn to take a break every once in a while as well…

Yep – my computer is making me fat! I’m laying awake unable to sleep because I’m all excited because I just figured out how I can get fit again, start running again and be motivated to do the things I’ve been using my computer to help me procrastinate over! I’m going to wake up at 6 am and begin to run again – I may drag my butt out and barely run my first few times out, but I know that if I do it for a few weeks it’ll get easier and will trickle into more motivation to do other things in my life ie: clean my house!

Yes definitely interferes with a lot. Seems to get out of hand once you find tons of blogs, articles, sites, etc. you like to visit. I try to limit myself daily.

School? What school? I’m busy blogging!

…um, yes. I suppose I ought to make sure I’m balancing blogging with the rest of my life:)

Sometimes it’s good to step away from it for a few days!

yes sometimes I just need a day away from the computer. Some days I like to devote myself to the cleaning or cooking without any interruptions except kiddos ;) Blogging can take over that is for sure. Everything in moderation.

Totally! I am in a state of deprivation right now b/c our home computer is being fixed: so no Yahoo or Facebook at home (I can blog and read blogs at work.)

I’m amazed at how much more time I have in the Trenches when I’m not sitting in front of the time-sucking computer.

Wow. My first visit here and I’m hooked. Blogging has been eating away at my workout time. I am declaring right here, right now, that tomorrow I will exercise! And tonight I will do bicep curls while watching the debate on TiVo.

Yes, I’ve been sucked into blogging and I’m thrilled about it but feel I only have time to scratch the surface. I want so badly to check out these other blogs (offered right up for me these very comments) but it’s hard to get out there. And then Facebook… I’m just starting on that from all the outside pressure to do it. How’s a mom supposed to keep up?

I am new to blogging (reading and writing) I am home with a not so new baby (10mo). I find that most of bloggers blog at work so they still have time to have a life away from thier blogging. We who are home must be stronger.
Here is me truning the laptop off to go to bed NoW (12:35 pm here)
