Get your Starbucks Vivanno fix here

by workoutmommy on September 11, 2008

I’ve never been part of the Starbucks crowd because I don’t like coffee. I do love smoothies though and when Starbucks came out with the Vivanno Nourishing blends, I couldn’t resist. IMG_1309

The Vivanno comes in tasty flavors such as banana chocolate and orange mango banana. They are packed with whey protein, low in fat, free of additives, and 250 to 270 calories. I think they taste pretty good, especially the banana chocolate.

In addition to the tasty smoothies, Starbucks now has a new line of nutritious options for breakfast. Instead of fueling up at the nearest fast food drive-thru , check out these six new items:

•Oatmeal. The whole-grain Perfect Oatmeal is served hot in a cardboard to-go bowl. For $2.45, buyers also get to pick two of three mixes for the oatmeal (served in separate packs): dried fruit, nuts or brown sugar

Apple Bran Muffin. The $1.75 muffin with 330 calories is made with whole-wheat flour, oats, wheat bran, apples, cherries and honey. It replaces the current bran muffin.

•Multigrain roll. The $1.60 roll has 280 calories and seven seeds and grains. It’s served with almond butter or strawberry preserves.

•Energy bar. The $1.75 Chewy Fruit & Nut Bar is made with oats, dried fruit, nuts, seeds and honey. It has 250 calories.

•Power Protein Plate. The $4.95 Power Protein Plate has a hard-boiled egg, a small whole-wheat bagel, a 70-calorie pack of peanut butter, a cheddar cheese wedge, apple slices and grapes. It will be sold at stores that have cold cases.

•Fruit pastry. The $1.75 Berry Stella started rolling out last month. The whole-grain pastry is made with seasonal fruits.

As much as I have tried to stay away, I now have many excuses reasons to visit Starbucks.

Want a coupon for a FREE Vivanno blend? Just leave me a comment telling me what you had for breakfast today. (be honest!)

Four lucky winners will be chosen at random on Sunday, 9/14 at 9pm EST and notified via email.

ooooh we up at the CRACK here since ‘daaaaddy’ (please to read in a whiny voice. ala my Toddler) is traveling.

I had 2 cups of eggbeaters 2 soy sausages a wedge of laughing cow cheese and some outofthepackage spoonfuls of flax.

NOW I NEED MORE CAFFEINE.

Well, it’s 6:30 and I should have already been in the shower and I should have already gotten the kids at least dressed for school. But here I sit at the computer checking blogs, who has time to eat?! lol! Yesterday I had a multigrain english muffin with a sausage patty and slice of cheese. Probably be the same later this morning.

As we “speak” I am eating a bowl of oatmeal (not instant) with half a banana cut up and a handful of strawberries. Coffee too of course! (you don’t like coffee?!)

I love SB and I love their new smoothies!

I LOVE bfast. I haven’t eaten it yet (unless you count the banana and glass of carnation instant breakfast I had at 4 a.m., which I don’t). But the PLAN is scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and toast. And I do love Starbucks, so nice to know I can choose something more healthy than a maple nut scone. Ah… but I love the maple nut scone, naughty as it is..

I had cereal today (half-way healthy kind, but still…). Do I get a gold star for having a multivitamin and fish oil tablets with it? Oh, and I had a cup of coffee and a glass of water.

I had a smoothie made from nonfat yogurt, frozen strawberries, half a banana and some wheat germ. And a big, honking coffee.

I had a piece of organic whole wheat toast with a little bit of peanut butter and an apple. And of course a big glass of water. No coffee for me, I love the smell, but not the taste.

I am the world’s most boring breakfast eater: every day it’s either 2 eggs scrambled with veggies or steel-cut oats with berries and nuts. Today? It’s the eggs:)

Being LDS, I don’t drink coffee but I love the ‘bucks for their pastries! The Vivanno sounds delish too:)

I have to admit, I’ve never liked coffee (cue angry students everywhere to start throwing things at me).

But I’ll talk about my puny little breakfast anyway… today I had a nectarine and a small bowl of plain yogurt with frozen berries mixed in. I’m thinking pretty soon I’m going to go for round 2 and make myself some of the PB Boys banana pancakes or something:)

I had two slices of peanut butter and jelly toast at home and a giant bismark at the office because someone (read: me) brought them in as a treat for the team.

Probably not the HEALTHIEST breakfast though. :D

I’ve got No Excuse not to visit Starbucks if they’re going to start serving healthy stuff in the a.m. I’m in the Pacific Northwest, where apparently it is a law that you have to have a Starbucks on every other corner. There’s one between my house and the commuter train that I (really should) take to work each morning. I’ll have to try their stuff, see if it meets with my exacting standards :)

i had a really big breakfast, actually: large handful purple grapes, quarter of a watermelon (seriously); two hardboild egg whites; cup of oatmeal plus brown sugar and dried berries; AND a handful-plus of almonds. Hopefully that should tide me over and I can just have a light lunch!

So excited to try the new breakfast menu at Starbucks though!

I used to use starbucks to keep the weight off -then it started upsetting my sleep so i quit it. back on grocery-store coffee (which doesn’t curb the appetite quite as much). I’ve been gone so long I had no idea they were serving oatmeal now. Woo hoo! Love it.
