Dear Wii,
I just wanted to thank you for coming into our lives. We saw you sitting there all alone at Costco, just waiting for a new home. All of your friends were gone and we had to shove move past a few other customers to make sure that you were coming home with us.
Now that you are here in our house, I have to profess my love for you. Not only do you give me a chance to play ball in the house, (sorry Carol Brady), but you have managed to get my husband up and moving!
No amount of nagging or begging has ever convinced him to exercise, but YOU have been able to do so. For that, I am extremely grateful.
My dear hubby now devotes at least one hour every night to you, either boxing or playing tennis in our family room. Sometimes he lets me play too, but I must admit that I am a poor sport. (translation: I hate it when hubby wins!)
Not only does the husband break a sweat, but he says he is having FUN while doing it! I never thought I would hear those words from him. Thank you Wii!
We hope to expand our Wii family by getting a Wii Fit very soon. Unfortunately they are not so easy to come by, but we are being patient. In the meantime, please let us know if you need anything else to help make your new home more comfortable.
With love and sweat,
Lisa

Lisa,
I’m willing to bet that those customers you were able to move around to get your Wii were just a little overweight. This is a wonderful product and helps get people moving again. They’re even using this for stroke recovery to get them active as well. Good luck with your Wii and I hope you get the Wii fit program.

I like it….technology with fitness. Fun, active…excellent! Of course nothing beats getting the butt moving with a fitness routine but hey! It is a start or a good addition! Nice post!

I would have liked to see you making your move at Costco - too funny! Glad your husband is exercising.

You guys are going to have a blast!!! I highly, highly recommend Mario Kart. It’s not as active as Wii sports, but it’s so much fun and a tad addicting. So, really maybe I shouldn’t recommend it. lol.

I keep hearing how great these are, but I can’t get past the price and that it’s a video game…
Maybe for Christmas.

That was a very funny post, I really like it. Since I live in Montreal, Canada I’m thinking in buying one for me, so I can do some exercise at home during winter, which is no fun up here.

I just can’t seem to get past the video game aspect. Just doesn’t seem like a workout, but I really haven’t tried it either…so I guess I can’t knock it.

fit bottomed girls: I think we have Mario Kart, but haven’t tried it yet. Now I must go and check it out!
August 8th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
thea-I thought the same thing about price and video game but now it seems totally worth it. My hubby summed it up by saying “hey, I have to be standing to play these games!”
August 8th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
TB-it’s not the traditional workout that you are used to, but it does get your heart rate up and you will sweat. I was very (pleasantly) surprised, normally I am not one for video games.

Missicat-more reason to get one, the yoga and balance games on the wii fit is awesome!
August 8th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
I’m jealous. I’ve been spying the yoga component and would love to have one.
have fun!

You’re going to love Wii Fit! It won’t replace a good, hard workout, but it’s a FUN complement. Love the yoga and strength exercises. Heck, love the aerobic and balance exercises too. Hope you find one soon!

The Wii is certainly a lot of fun. We got one at Christmas and although my son is in love with the gaming portion of the Wii, my wife, daughter and I really like the interactive games including Tennis and Bowling on the sports disk and more recently the Wii Fit.
Hope you enjoy the games and exercise it is lots of fun and there are lots of games to choose from.
Just a tip: we rent games before we ever buy them (except Wii Fit) we found there are some crappy games with great box covers and it is pretty cheap to rent a game and check it out first from the video store instead of buying one and deciding you do not like it.

I want one of those sooooo bad! I got excited because in my area Comcast has a promotion going on and if you get started with their bundle of phone, internet and cable service, you get a free Wii!!! The only bad thing is…Comcast does not serve my neighborhood. Boooo!!! I’ll just start saving up my pennies I guess.
Thanks for the post!

MissMelinda, that is just cruel that they are showing those commercials near you! Yes, save the pennies. It is very worth it!
