I had an amazing time at BlogHer and definitely encourage all of you to go next year! I learned many new ideas and even got the chance to hear this famous blogger talk about her experience in the blogging world.
Here is a recap of my trip:
The People:
I was very excited to get the chance to meet many of my favorite bloggers in person, such as:
- FatFighter TV
- Susan from 5 Minutes for Mom
- Metropolitan Mama
- Motherhood Uncensored
- Amalah
- Stephanie from Back in Skinny Jeans
- Zandria
- Mommy Needs a Cocktail
- Why Mommy
- Mom 101
- Shannon
I also met many bloggers that are new to me and I am excited to start following all of my new friends!
The Food:
There was plenty of food throughout the weekend and most of it was sugar and junk. (Why is that?) Sahar has an excellent picture of the ginormous Sesame Street cupcakes that were available. Unfortunately, that was just a small sampling, everywhere I turned there was chocolate, candy, and other high calorie foods. I think I did a pretty good job of avoiding most of it, although a stray cookie or two might have landed in my hands. I tried to fill up on fruit in the morning and kept some almonds on hand for the afternoon.
The Fitness:
Unfortunately this did not go according to plan. My husband watched the kids while I was attending sessions, so I could not really ask him to extend his day while I went to the hotel gym. (although I really wanted to!)
I was able to attend a fantastic yoga class on Saturday morning. It was very early (7am) but I was eager to meet one of my favorite bloggers, Linda. I knew she would be there beforehand, so I figured this was the best chance to meet her without all the crowds. Hopefully she was too tired to think I am some kind of weird stalker!
Not only was the class great, but I also walked away with a great new yoga mat/bag, courtesy of Boca. It felt good to do yoga again and made me realize just how much I miss it.
The folks from Nintendo were there so I had fun using the Wii Fit and have decided that now I must have one! (*ahem* someone has a birthday coming up, y’know?)
I did manage to do some pushups and lunges when I could, but my main source of exercise was walking and stairs. The fitness plan suffered a bit, but I am not concerned. It is all about balance and I am ready to dive back into the pushup challenge (week 4) and all of my favorite cardio activities.
The exhaustion!
I was not prepared for the level of exhaustion I would feel after this trip! Flying across the country with two small children and then staying in a hotel for almost a week has taken a toll on me. I need the weekend to catch up on lost sleep, dirty laundry, and blogging! I also plan to get reacquainted with my kettlebell and spin bike as I have missed them dearly.
How about you gang, what is on your fitness plan this weekend?
Many thanks to the organizers of Blogher, I am looking forward to going again next year!

The photos from BlogHer have only confirmed my fears… that I am out of shape. I’ll def. be working on “me” these next couple of months.

Oh YES - I was soooo exhausted by the time we got home. BlogHer was tiring enough, but having little ones along really made it hard.
I really missed the chance to have protein or high fiber cereal with skim milk in the am. Danishes and croissants?!?! Are you kidding me!!!

Ugh, all the sugary foods are the worst part of conferences.
Sounds like you had a great time (exhaustion and all.)
I have a Wii Fit, and it is really fun. Someone definitely needs to get you one for your birthday.

It was so great being able to meet you, too, Lisa! My fitness suffered, too (I was so cranky when I got home on Sunday because I felt like such a slug!), and the food options there at the hotel weren’t the best…but it was only a few days. I’m back on track now, and I loved the experience!

[...] This week is Linda, one of my favorite bloggers. I started following her personal blog (Sundrymourning) shortly after the birth of her first son, where she was talking my language as a first-time mom. She now has two little boys and I got the chance to meet her in person at BlogHer this past July. (Yes, I stalked her in yoga). [...]
