Sun Protection Zone outfitted my sons for our beach trip last month and it was fantastic! The long sleeve suits were perfect for protecting their baby soft skin and my oldest loves his hat and sunglasses. I highly recommend their products for your family.
Sun Protection Zone wants to outfit your child too! They are offering a Total Sun Protection Package to one lucky reader! Leave me a comment on this post telling me how you are staying active as a family this summer.
The winner will receive a UV protective long sleeve rashguard, hat, solarsafe wristbands, and a bottle of sea and ski sunblock. The contest will end on Monday 7/14 at 10pm EST and is open to US residents only.
My family is staying active this summer by going on a 2 mile walk together every night after dinner. How about yours?

The kids and I have started daily walks in the morning. Hubby joins us when we walk in the evenings sometimes. We aren’t up to two miles but we enjoy the exercise and the quality time together.

We go on lots of bike rides! And swimming:) I wonder if my kids would keep the sun gear on tho? Did your kids fight wearing it at all?

I want it bad!! I have two boys whose idea of summer fun is to be wet all summer!!
I haven’t found any long sleeve rash guards around my town.

We are spending lots of time outside. Most mornings find us in the backyard enjoying the outside while it is still not too hot. The late afternoons find us enjoying shade in the front yard and watching for Daddy to come home.

My wife is obsessed with sunscreen. Her and the kids never go a day without! We do trampoline work outs as a family, bike rides twice a week, water skiing on Sundays and hit the cabin a few times. Good post!

my family is attempting to swim at the pool a lot more than we did last year. of course, we ended up getting burnt on our one day at the beach last week, so i guess we’d better work harder on the sun safety front!

We are walking to and from school on the days I work from home. And we’re getting every penny’s worth of the playset that we got for the girls last summer, too!

I just came back from vacation, and let me tell you, spending entire days in the sun, I was re-lathering the kids all the time. And still, my little one, who is blond ended up with a sunburn on his nose.
Those little outfits sound perfect!
We go walking and running together several times a week, swimming, and playing in the yard. I’m sure we will have a few hikes at some upcoming family reunions.
Ah, I love clothes that are cute AND functional! My father just completed radiation treatment for skin cancer, so I have been slathering the SPF on myself and my family like crazy, especially because we have a pool at our complex, and my kids are little fish; they love to swim.
We also go for a lot of walks and bike rides. They love to hike and explore, and my son, who will soon turn 7, likes to hold the dog’s leash when we walk. Both kids have LOTS of energy, lol!
I love all the active-ness! I should also have mentioned that the outfits saved me big money on sunscreen b/c there was less boy to cover!
charlotte: my little ones actually did NOT fight these outfits, which surprised me. The sunglasses weren’t always a hit, but the hat always stayed on.
slacker-love how you are walking more and driving less. great idea for fitness and your wallet.
alyssa-hope your dad is doing better. and i can totally relate to the kids having lots of energy. wouldn’t it be great if we could bottle it up?
We hang out in the back yard almost everyday. Running around and playing ball. We also go to the pool almost every weekend. Nothing makes the kiddos sleep better than a couple of hours at the pool!
I need to get those hats!

Do they make them for adults? I burn easily…and I’m allergic to most sunscreens. Obviously, the big man upstairs is trying to tell me to stay indoors, but I just won’t listen.

I don’t have kids so no need to enter me in the contest but I just wanted to give a big shout out to Sun Protection Zone for their offer to Workout Mommy readers – such a needed product and vert grscious of them. No, I don’t work for them
Just a (new) fan!
Have to admit with a brand new baby, we are not doing the “active family” thing this summer. Our idea of activity is hauling out the portable swimming pool or playing on the swingset in the backyard.
I am still taking two of my kids, on a routining basis for a nightly walk at bedtime. This was a tradition started last year and they loved it. We walk to a park about 8 blocks from home to watch the bunnies play. More active for me than anyone else, but it is a great way to calm down before bedtime.

We are also walking more; most recently, at the church down the road from us. Our road isn’t very kid-safe, too many country kids “knowing” the roads too well, so we’ve been walking around the cemetary. It’s brought up some hard conversations with the 3 yr old, though… The pool is far, but we try to go there as well. That sun protection would help my pasty babies…
Great giveaway!

What a great idea! I’ve gotten my daughter used to the idea that she has to wear a hat if she goes outside, to the point that that’s how she tells me she would like to go for a walk–she puts her hat on (she’s pre-verbal).
We’re mostly staying active this summer by biking everywhere. Even to yardsales and Wal-Mart (the furthestmost store in our town). We have a Burley bike trailer for pulling Madeline.
The kids are keeping active biking and swimming, my dh by running daily, and I’m mainly into stretching and toning at the moment, using my balance ball. I need to start walking too, but it’s tooooo humid and my eczema is holding me back.
My husband is a former professional tennis player and I’m a former division one college soccer player so fitness has always been a priority for us. We run together with our 9 month old daughter in the jogging stroller and in order to do sprints we will go to the park and set my daughter up on a blanket and alternate with one of us sprinting and the other resting while watching our daughter.
We do bike rides – they build those strong leg muscles!
This is such a great giveaway! I have a hard time with sunscreen on my little guy but I do try to keep him covered whenever we are out. And we’re out a lot because I walk with him every day and my husband and I try to get out in the backyard to toss the ball around with him, too. He’s only 13 months old, but I want him to learn to be active early on!

Well, we go to the park alot, play out in the backyard, go for walks and are fixin’ to go camping for 2 weeks this summer yet too! We can’t wait.
We go on family walks every night after dinner too (although usually not quite that far since my daughter is under 2).

We do daily morning walks and then my husband joins us in the evening for another walk. It’s great to be outside!!!
