A few years back I was told I have low bone density so the doctor recommended I take a Vitamin D supplement. I was pretty good about it at first but unfortunately got out of the habit last summer. It has been so long in fact that I cannot even find them. I do have some very old prenatal vitamins, but we all know how tasty those are.
So off to Target I went and was completely overwhelmed by the vitamin/supplement aisle. They have a pill for everything it seems, but the one container that caught my eye was the Viactiv Multi-Vitamin Chews. These are CHOCOLATE!! How can I resist a chocolate vitamin? I could not wait to get one out of the package and let me tell you, these are very good! So tasty, that I might have to hide them from myself so I don’t overdose on vitamins and minerals. (which by the way, it can be toxic for your body to have too many).
One Multi-Vitamin chew has 100% of the recommended daily value of vitamins B6, B12, C, D, E, Folic Acid, Thiamin, Riboflavin, and Pantothenic Acid.
Why are these important to us? Let’s check it out:
Vitamin A is important for the growth of and development of bones, teeth and gums. It is also essential for night vision, healthy skin, hair and mucous membranes.
Vitamin C serves as an antioxidant and plays a role in collagen formation, nerve function and tissue repair.
Vitamin D plays an essential role in bone health. It helps the body absorb and utilize calcium, which is necessary to build strong bones and teeth.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can help prevent a chemical reaction called oxidation, which may result in harmful effects in your body. Over time it is also important for the proper function of nerves and muscles.
Folic Acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 are B vitamins that work together to prevent the excess buildup of the amino acid, homocysteine in the blood, which has been associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis. Research shows that low levels of B6, B12 and folic acid are associated with high levels of homocysteine, which may be an independent risk factor for heart disease. Increased intake of these B vitamins can lower homocysteine levels, and preliminary research indicates that these vitamins may be protective against heart disease.
Pantothenic acid is essential for growth, normal physiological functions, and energy production..
Riboflavin is important for growth, nerve function, red blood cell production, healthy skin and the release of energy from foods.
Thiamin is necessary for energy production, especially from carbohydrates. It is important for normal functioning of the heart, nervous system, and muscles.
So this one tasty, chocolate nugget covers a lot of bases for me and the fact that it is chocolate will ensure that I don’t forget to eat it each day. If you are in the market for a new multi-vitamin, definitely give Viactiv a try. (visit the website for a coupon too!)
Now that I’m chock full of important vitamins and minerals, I am off to be active.
How about you? No excuses gang, go and enjoy your energy!

I used to take the calcium version of viactiv. I preferred the caramel ones to the chocolate ones, but both were good.

I’m a terrible vitamin taker. Lately, though, I’ve been getting great vitmains and nutrients in the form of a juicer…Kale goes down a lot easier in the form of juicer.

After reading your post, I happened to be on my way to Target, so I picked up a box of Viactiv and so glad I got them. They are good, and now I can take a daily multivitamin I won’t dread taking.

the caramel ones are yummy, too. But I will say, be careful because what happened to me is I started eating one a day, then I started to get burnt out, but choked them down nonetheless, and now I gag when I see them. And now, the calcium supplements I do take are so big, you could easily confuse them with an OB Tampon.

I actually sort of dont like these. ok, not sort of, they make me gag. I have a hard time swallowing so i get the oscal lemon chiffon chewable 500mg tablets. maybe i should try the caramel ones…or maybe i should just eat more yogurt.

I prefer the caramel ones too - I love how they feel so naughty (bring on the HFCS!!) but I can totally rationalize them as health food.
Leslie - OB tampon!!! ROFL!
