Many thanks to KFJ for recommending the Nike + iPod Sport kit to me. I normally don’t like to run with
music but I am a numbers freak and this satisfies my need to know exactly how fast and how far I have run. I keep my Bon Jovi tunes turned down fairly low so that I can still enjoy the sounds of nature (and oncoming traffic) around me.
It is very user friendly, just plug it in your ipod nano, put the sensor in (or on) your shoe, and off you go! During your run a very nice voice will tell you exactly how far you have run and how much further you need to go. After you are done, it tells you your average pace, total distance and even your estimated number of calories burned. (based on the personal data that you input.)

Take your stats a step further by uploading to the nikeplus website where you can track and analyze your run and create all sorts of graphs and charts! For the competitive runners out there, you can even login and challenge anyone to a virtual race. Very cool, isn’t it?
And the price? Just under $30! Well worth every penny. You can get yours at Amazon now with free shipping.
Today I am taking my Nike iPod Sport Kit on my “long run” (about 10 miles) as part of my half marathon training.
What are you doing this Easter Sunday to keep yourself active?
(Steer clear of the Cadbury Eggs, they are as dangerous as those girl scout cookies!)

I love.love.love mine too - only there’s one drawback. The battery in the sensor eventually burns out and you can’t replace it, instead you need to buy a whole new sorts kit

That does indeed sound like something that’s worth the money, at least if you run on a regular basis and are going to use it! I tend to run pre-set routes where I already know how long the distance is, but I’m definitely not calculating my run-time or anything like that. (At this point I’d probably rather not know…I’m a pretty slow runner!)

My running buddy just told me about this last night and I researched it since we are Mac fanatics and I think this will be a great product. I did some research and you can purchase a replacement sensor for $19 and you can extend the life of the battery by only using the shoes you use the sensor on for exercising. I have a designated pair of running shoes for running/walking/training so I think it would last me longer. Also, you do not have to purchase the Nike shoes….you can buy a pouch to hold the sensor for $6.
I can’t wait to get this!!

Dang it! I already ate one half of a Cadbury egg!??? We split it each family member got one half. Also, this morning I caught my youngest with a WHOLE egg in his mouth..leaking out the sides! Quite funny really except he didn’t take a nap the whole day.
The rest of the stash has been well hidden.

$30 IS a good deal. However, I would also need to buy (1) the Nike sneakers and (2) the nano.
Dammit!

Connie, that is good news about the replacement sensor. Thanks!
Rachel, that is hilarious!! I can’t really blame him though, those eggs are very enticing!
Trenches, you don’t need the shoes, but you do need the Nano!

I SO want to get this Nike technology but I have the iPod mini which, when purchased, was super-small but then 2 days later they came out with an even smaller, tinier version and that’s the one you apparently need for the Nike running program. I always run with music - I’m like the opposite of you, Workout Mommy! - and would love to hear the miles rattle off. So motivating!

I LOVE my Nike + !! I’m totally addicted to it. Just recently, I’ve gotten involved in a few challenges that you can do via the website which is great because it’s very motivating!
And for Trenches, like Connie I didn’t buy new shoes, just got the little pouch that you can put on your laces - works great!
