Wall squats: The Biggest Loser style

Did you catch The Biggest Loser this week? Jillian Michaels showed us just how tough the contestants really are. As they were doing wall squats, Jillian was STANDING on their quads and walking from contestant to contestant! If you missed the show, picture that in your mind for just one second.

They are strong enough to support a grown woman on their legs while doing their wall squats! I wish I could find a video clip of it, but I have not had any luck. (If someone is able to find this clip, please send it to me!)

tblshowlogo.jpgI know there are some people who do not believe in The Biggest Loser but how can you deny the strength and determination that this exercise must take? I was amazed and jealous!

And when is Jillian coming to my house?

It is time for us to be active gang! Find a spot on the wall and make it yours. Slide down the wall into a solid squat, with perfect form. Click here if you need a refresher.

Stay there for as long as you can and then hold it another 10 seconds. (while sitting there, imagine someone walking on your legs!)

Do this today at least 3 times. No excuses!

Awesome! This is a great exercise. It’s so simple, but humbling to begin feeling the burn within 30 seconds. I can’t imagine someone standing on me too. Oh, wait, your kids will be more than happy to try!

Oh My Gosh! That is amazing. I didn’t see it, but I wish I had. I’m up for the challenge of a wall sit, but I don’t even think I’m up for my 2 year old walking on my legs!!

I did see this episode, however the fact that it is a wall squat significantly lowers the effect of someone standing on your legs. Jillian’s weight was effectively focused on the contestants lower back (against the wall) and feet (heels on the floor) and not on the muscles that a squat is meant to strengthen. I’m sure there was pain due to her foot pressure on their quadriceps but this doesn’t assist in muscle strength. Color me impressed when they can hold a squat sans wall with Jillian standing on their legs. I don’t want to take anything away from what these contestants have accomplished though. They are determined and have achieved amazing results.

My 6 yr. old is right here ready for the challenge. I’m sure she’ll love it.

I was disappointed in Paul, Jillian did so much for him and he just ignored her phone calls. Don’t think he’ll succeed.

That was tough. Luckily, my 2 yr. old saved me and wanted in on the fun, so I tried all three kids. I have pretty strong legs, but it still was tough.

I can’t seem to get into that show this season! Not sure why. Too busy with the two kiddies, etc. But, I do DO those squats. My trainer has me doing them against the wall with a stability ball and a set of handweights. It’s awesome. :)

Better clarify, I did the squats first with my 50 pound 6 yr. old, then 40 pound 3 1/2 yr. old, then 30 pound 2 yr. old.

No way could I do it with all three climbing on my legs at once.
