Apparently people gather every morning in Japan for their morning calisthenic exercises. Music is broadcast as the young and old come together to do a specific set of movements.

The movements are a little odd, but I like the concept. Imagine if you had a set time every day when you did your calisthenics? There would be no excuses, it would just be part of your life. Music would come on and everyone in your family (and neighborhood) would do the movements.

What do you think, would it work for you?

    Hi - delurking!

    I think this is a wonderful idea! It gets people out of the private aspect of health and wellness and makes it a community event. AWESOME.

    It would totally work for me.

    I would definitely like to do something like that! But now I work from home, so if I want to exercise I just do it all by my lonesome…

    I was on a business trip to Taipei Taiwan and went for a run in this park area across from the hotel which was downtown. It was 6:30am and I saw about 300 hundred people (not kidding you) in the park doing Tai Chi. Watching all the synchronized movement with all those people first thing in the AM was truly remarkable. A total sense of serenity and peace came over me, as I jogged along. I’ve seen similar scenes like this one in other Asian countries where people gather in parks and just start moving. One time I saw this group with faux swords moving in slow tai chi type movements. It was so awesome. We Americans could learn lots from this type of group exercise.
