Move it Monday: Fast feet

by workoutmommy on February 4, 2008

It’s Monday gang, which means it is time to start moving! Move it Monday is a way to get a fresh and active start to our week so let’s get moving!

football.jpgIf you are like me, you have some extra football snacks to wear off. In honor of last night’s game, our challenge today is the fast feet drill, usually done at football conditioning camp (and in my bootcamp classes!)

It goes like this:

  • squat down in your perfect squat
  • lift your heels up so you are standing on your tippy toes
  • now start running in place–just like that!
  • stay in the squat position, no standing up!
  • BREATHE, BREATHE!
  • yes, your calves should be screaming at you
  • are your glutes squeezed? I hope so!
  • keep going!
  • keep going!
  • have you done this for at least 30 seconds?
  • Stop, breathe, and repeat when ready

Do this several times over the course of the day for a great cardio workout and strengthening exercise for your lower body.

You never knew football could be so much fun, did you?

We use to do this in basketball practice. It’s a killer.

I love this idea! Although, I might probably want to make sure I am all alone and out of sight before I attempt it.
