It’s Monday gang, which means it is time to start moving! Move it Monday is a way to get a fresh and active start to our week so let’s get moving!
Today we are doing squat kicks! This is a great exercise that can be done anywhere and anytime (yes, even in the bread aisle at Safeway!) When done correctly, squat kicks will work your legs, glutes, and also provide you with a small burst of cardio. What a great way to start your week!
- Stand with feet slightly wider than hip distance apart and drop down into your perfect squat. Make sure your knees stay in line with your toes.
- As you stand up out of your squat, lift your right knee and then extend it into a kick. Keep your leg straight and foot flexed. You should be kicking through your heel.
- Step back and perform another squat, this time kicking with your left leg.
- Remember to BREATHE and keep strong abs with each kick.

How many are we going to do?
My goal is to do 100 of these over the course of the day. My watch beeps at the start of the hour, so my plan is to do a set of 10 each time I hear my watch beep.
So, give yourself a goal right here and tell me how many you are going to do today. After you get them done, come back and tell me how much fun they were!
Go ahead—get moving and enjoy your energy! No excuses!

Well…I just did 20 minutes on the elliptical. I was shooting for 30 but my baby daughter woke up and I had to cut it short. I am looking forward to do the squats today because I can do them with her in my arms.
Thanks for the motivation!
Hi Lisa, Thanks for the inspiration. I just replaced a move in a workout to the squat kick because it fit better. I did 48 reps.
Well, it’s too late for me to do 100 today, but I’ll do them tomorrow. I love the idea of spreading the exercise throughout the day. Works for me………….:)
After I read this post, I jumped outta my chair and did 30. Wow! Catching my breathe now. This exercise would be really good to help prevent blogger butt…lol..
