Reduce your waist while reducing waste! Brita, FilterForGood, and The Biggest Loser

by workoutmommy on January 9, 2008

Did you catch “The Biggest Loser” last night?

I think if I was forced to go into a room and see on big screen TVs just how much sugar I eat in a year (or even a month) it might just help me kick my habit. What do you think, would it help you?

brita_learn_how.jpgAnd have you seen the contestants carrying around their fancy water bottles?

Brita and FilterForGood are partnering with “The Biggest Loser” to eliminate bottled water from the ranch in efforts to help contestants reduce their waists and their waste. Bottled water waste has become a very real environmental concern, with more than 38 billion disposable bottles sent to U.S. landfills last year. Trainers and contestants will pledge to use FilterForGood reusable bottles in an effort to take positive steps toward a healthier body and a healthier planet. You can check out the FFG bottles and take a pledge to reduce bottled water waste at FilterForGood.

Now grab yourself a giant glass of water and have a seat because I have a Brita faucet-mount filter and a reusable FilterForGood bottle to giveaway to you!!

There are 2 ways to enter:

  1. Leave a comment on this post telling me which team motivates you and why.
  2. Blog about this contest on your own blog and provide a link back to this post.

If you do both, you will get 2 entries into the contest. I will pick the winner by putting all the names in a hat and letting my 2 year old pick out the winner! The contest begins now and runs until 1/15/08 at 10pm EST.

Good luck and stay hydrated!

one more question…..have you been active today?

I don’t know which team…I just love Bob the trainer. Oh to have trainer again *sigh*. I don’t do the bottled water, I need to get a travel bottle that’s not plastic…

I am inspired by the White team of Neill and Amanda. They are fairly new parents, but they are making a great commitment to themselves and their child.

TB-Milwaukee January 9, 2008 at 10:06 pm

I’m liking this season. Each team is so different. I like the mother/daughter, can’t remember their names Peggy Sue?

Neil and Amanda came on strong and Neil got a good second chance after talking with Jillian.

Leticia January 10, 2008 at 10:20 am

I would love to work with Jillian. I need somebody to kick my butt the way she does…no nonsense style. I like Peggy Sue and her daughter mainly because of Peggy Sue. She will not give up! Even when she fell on the treadmill she just kept on going…that’s DETERMINATION!

Betsy January 10, 2008 at 1:48 pm

I like the brown team that just went home! They worked together great! I like the pink and orange as well. I don’t know how I feel about another brother team winning everything again. Doesn’t seem right!

I actually did “Carmen Electra’s Aerobic Striptease: Vegas Strip.” Such a fun tape!

I’m encouraged by Neill and Amanda…ya have to root for parents!

I blogged you as well: http://bebemiqui.blogspot.com/2008/01/contest-of-day_10.html

sara January 10, 2008 at 3:56 pm

I’m also inspired by the new parents…Neill and Amanda! They have recognized a problem and are committed to fixing it for themselves, as a couple, and for their child. I’ve had lots of housework to catch up…With a 14 month old at my heels making messes as fast as I can clean!LOL! So yes, I have been active today!

Angela January 10, 2008 at 5:54 pm

I watched the first week of the season, and I like Britney and her partner, what was his name?–that don’t even know each other. I think BettySue is a hoot, too. If I were on that show, I would definitely want Bob as my trainer.

Danielle S January 10, 2008 at 7:47 pm

Gotta love the new parents! Neil and Amanda!!!

Go pink team ~ this team motivates me because I can relate to them!! thanks so much!!

Just Me January 11, 2008 at 11:49 am

Hey…definitely enter me! I’m a water person,a nd have been using bottled water – but I keep reusing the bottle I buy, for a week or two. I know, I Know..it’s supposed to unhealthy, but I think it’s such a waste to use it once and throw it away. I could REALLY use the system you’re giving away…so count me in!

TheAngelForever January 11, 2008 at 12:38 pm

I will be honest none of the teams really inspire me. I am inspired to be healthy for myself, my husband and my kids (sure I love watching to see how they do things and they give me great ideas). I am working on exercising more, drinking lots more water (only item I drink) and getting rid of stress. Hubby and I are making healthy choices with food to be be good models for our children. I would love this to help me on my mission to be more healthy.

Michele January 11, 2008 at 2:43 pm

Neil and Amanda are definitely the ones I can relate to!

Carmen January 11, 2008 at 10:32 pm

I love Biggest Loser! I try to watch it every week and I am inspired by all of the teams! I am trying very hard to drink more water every day and I have a large cup that I use every day however I would love to be the winner in your drawing!!!
Thank you,
Carmen

Vicki Wurgler January 12, 2008 at 8:19 pm

I’d support Jackie she was very honest – she said ” She realizes she raised her kids on fast food”

Courtney January 12, 2008 at 11:36 pm

I have never seen the Biggest Loser and such can not choose a team. However, I am on a weight loss journey would like to enter your giveaway. Thanks.

Noreen January 13, 2008 at 12:17 am

Neil and Amanda, as a parent I applaud them

gretchen January 13, 2008 at 8:19 am

we love Biggest Loser, and my husband is inspired by the 2 football players!

Amy January 13, 2008 at 8:56 am

I have not had the opportunity to watch the Biggest Loser because I have been kickboxing in the evenings at our son’s Tae Kwondo school. It is a tough workout and I am on the way to getting in shape! Would love to try the FilterForGood.

natasha January 13, 2008 at 9:33 am

I haven’t seen this season yet, I hope to tune in soon. But our family doesn’t do disposable plastic bottles we each have a small Nalgene we take with, even on car trips we fill ‘em up before leaving.

Caryn Bailey January 13, 2008 at 10:46 am

I would have to say the mother/daughter team. My mom and I have attempted weight loss several times via WW and exercise.

Rachel January 13, 2008 at 11:04 am

Enter me please! Can’t vote on TV show cause I never have time to watch it!!

Angie January 13, 2008 at 11:38 am

I would love to enter. I posted about your contest on my blog. It comes at a great time too as my hubby and I just met 3 of the contestants yesterday who are on tour for The Biggest Loser MSN Million Pound Match Up. You can see my post about that on the blog too.

My favorite team is Bette Sue and Ali. I like Bette Sue’s energy and I think it will help bring them both further in the game. I liked Curtis and Mallory too and was sad to see them go.

mama k January 13, 2008 at 1:47 pm

I like Bette Sue and her daughter! She just cracks me up with her hair and attitude, but she is really working hard too.

Um, I haven’t been active today… yet.

Carrie January 13, 2008 at 2:09 pm

I have been watching TBL, however I am not sure on the peoples names. The team that really touched my heart were the newlyweds leaving behind their young son. Boy, what a sacrifice! But so worth it if they succeed!

Jennifer January 13, 2008 at 2:38 pm

I am losing weight also. I have been reading about all the plastic water bottles in the landfill. We drink lots of water and need a Brita!

Carol January 13, 2008 at 3:03 pm

I don’t watch the Biggest Loser but I would love to enter the contest. I bought a Klean Kanteen and am trying to not buy bottled water as much. A faucet filter would be wonderful that way I can just fill up my KK at the sink and head out the door.

Patti S January 13, 2008 at 4:35 pm

peggy sue & daughter

Sara January 13, 2008 at 4:53 pm

I really liked the brown team, they seem to have a great marriage and commitment to really lose.

Jeanette Jackson January 13, 2008 at 5:21 pm

I like the mother daughter team because I can relate to them

CPA Mom & Soccer Mom Angela January 13, 2008 at 5:58 pm

We like Curtis and Mallory since this husband and wife team is just like us – getting fit in 2008 together!

I blogged about you here: http://bwwi.blogspot.com/2008/01/win-brita-faucet-mount-filter-and-more.html

and also here:

Jessica January 13, 2008 at 6:29 pm

i loved the brown team, nice and considerate people…looked like they had a strong marriage…too bad they had to leave!

jennifer January 13, 2008 at 7:39 pm

I like the son and mother team and also the mother daughter team. The mothers of both teams work really hard and I like them. I know that sounds weird.

lisa January 13, 2008 at 7:58 pm

I love The BL, too! I love the mother/son team orange…she is SO snarky about those other teams. When she turned to the son on the treadmill next to her and said “well, the way he (neill) is, he will be seeing his baby really soon” I thought I was going to fall out of my chair laughing! I love Amanda but cannot stand Neill!

Enter me!

anne January 13, 2008 at 8:32 pm

I am always striving to improve my health by exercising, walking, eating healthy and being mobile. The mother/son team are motivating.

Striving\Tessa January 13, 2008 at 10:55 pm

I will post a link about this on my blog. Thanks for the chance. I do not watch the biggest loser, but i do like the whole idea behind the show.

Brynna January 13, 2008 at 11:01 pm

Another Neill and Amanda fan. Not sure why, but I just feel like I sort of relate to Amanda in some ways.

By the way, I’m so happy to see this contest. We’ve been wanting a Brita filter for so long but have the tightest budget in the world so it just hasn’t happened.

Jennifer, Snapshot January 14, 2008 at 7:38 am

Sounds great. Please enter me!

Sarah at In the Trenches of Mommyhood January 14, 2008 at 9:40 am

I want the mother/daughter (pink team) to win. I love Bette Sue for her spunk.

Holly January 14, 2008 at 10:11 am

How great! I’m trying to get into the habit of working out again and htis would be awesome. My water always seems to taste funny.

I’ll be saving this link blog to my favs also for tips. Thank you!

Alexia January 14, 2008 at 10:15 am

I haven’t been able to watch too many episodes of Biggest Loser this time around, but I really like the teams that are made up of parent/child. It’s really cool to see family working together like that!

I’ve blogged about your contest here: http://themommyrambles.blogspot.com/2007/09/if-youre-bored.html

Connie January 14, 2008 at 10:22 am

DH and I are watching this together. We are inspired by Neill and Amanda because of something they said on the very first show. They said they wanted to get fit before their son realized that they were fat. That is how we feel. We have two very small kids and we don’t want them to grow up like we did.

Kelley January 14, 2008 at 10:50 am

I like Amanda and Neill…we all have been there!

Amy P January 14, 2008 at 11:38 am

I really enjoy this season. Couples working together toward a common goal. My favorite couple are Brittany and Bernie. They are the only ones who don’t know each other and have a bond because of it.

I’ve linked up also!

Brenda January 14, 2008 at 11:40 am

I like Bob’s team. Bob is very encouraging and motivating, not degradingly motivating.

SJ January 14, 2008 at 11:46 am

I find that all the teams motivate me in different ways, but I think it’s great that the mother / daughter team is doing this together. I can only imagine the bonding they are doing by going through this journey TOGETHER. Which as I know, is important. Count me in – what a great give away.

taryn January 14, 2008 at 1:42 pm

I watch very little tv but I’m trying to lose 50 lbs so can you please enter me anywaay!
