Diet Busters

AOL body gives us some “Diet Busters”—foods in our diet that have more calories and fat than we probably realize.

Here is their list:

  • specialty coffees: a tall Starbucks Caffee Latte has 180 calories and 9 grams of fat!
  • bagels: A four-ounce bagel is equal to four slices of bread!
  • granola bars: Some contain more than 200 calories and may be loaded with sugar. (check the label)
  • applesauce: 100 calories in four ounces.
  • mayonnaise: one tablespoon of mayo has 12 grams of fat and 110 calories.
  • sports drinks: a 32-ounce bottle has about 240 calories.
  • baked chips: One ounce of baked chips (about 15) has 110 calories.
  • regular soda: One 12-ounce can of regular soda contains about 150 calories.
  • salad dressing: one tablespoon of dressing has about 50 calories.
  • cocktails: An eight-ounce daiquiri has 430 calories!

I love a nice warm bagel on a weekend morning but FOUR slices of bread? Well, that is one habit I am going to break!

How about you?

Are any of these in your regular diet?

Gravy and those super biggie soda drink which costs just mere few dollar. Concentrated ‘juice’ is also a diet buster. I have stumbled a lot of brands which taste so so unnaturally sweet yet they put the word “100% Pure Juice” in the front label.

Well, I am eating a bagel now. Wheat, 230 calories…is that bad? It is all I have, I need to get to the market. I think it is better than skipping breakfast…I never know what is to much in the calorie arena?

Well, four of those are loves of mine. Has anyone told you lately you’re a party pooper? LOL!

I do eat applesauce. I think it’s worth 100 calories for that sweet taste. Also, the real salad dressing is worth it. If I have it on a salad, I don’t eat any meat to make up for the calories and only dip my salad into the dressing. It really helps you use much less.

Part of the problem with bagels is that they are so huge nowadays! I swear they are like twice the size they were 15 or 20 years ago. I love bagels so much that I made a compromise with myself. I only eat a half at a time. I buy the kind fresh baked at the grocery store, halve them all right away, and put them in a sealed bag in the freezer. Then I pop one into the toaster. They’re not nearly so bad for you if you have a half bagel with a couple spoonfuls of jam or light cream cheese and a banana or something. Happy bageling!
