Everyone has a favorite workout, right?
What is yours?
Your assignment for the day is to make time to do your favorite activity for at least 20 minutes.
My favorite workout is running.![]()
Here are 10 things I love about it and what it does for me.
- I love the anticipation of a run. Planning my route, putting on my gear, lacing up my shoes and putting on my hat.
- I love the feeling of the first few steps where your legs are still a little stiff –but your mind is telling you that you can run for hours!
- I love the feeling of the first hill, where you can almost hear your hamstrings kick into overdrive to help get you to the top.
- Running helps me become more aware of the sounds all around me. I prefer not to run with music, I enjoy the everyday sounds and being in tune with the rhythm of my breathing.
- Running clears my head of all the stresses of my day. It’s just me and the road.
- Running allows me push myself. I tell myself that I can run a little faster around that curve or I can go for another 5 minutes.
- It gives me a sense of accomplishment. I can do it!
- It gets my heart pumping and makes me feel great all day long. There is truth to the concept runner’s high.
- It’s free and can be done at anytime! No need to join an expensive gym or drive somewhere. Just lace up and go outside! The world is your treadmill!
- and finally….it really is FUN!!!!

Do something today for fitness that you absolutely love doing.
Do it for fun.
Put aside any thoughts of losing weight.
Leave your worries and stress at home.
Just DO it for FUN!

My favorite workout is running also. Even though I am not a fast runner, I still enjoy it. Interval workouts are becoming a favorite as well. I recently started using intervals and it is a nice way to change up the cardio workouts.

I guess my favorite would be hiking. Something about being in the outdoors with my hiking stick really gets me going. I could hike for 3 hours, and it will feel like 30 minutes!!

nap warden: I didn’t get to run yesterday, but I did get a long (50 min) walk in by myself, so I am happy about that!
tryingfitness: I agree, interval workouts are great!
Susan: hiking is also a favorite of mine. Unfortunately my part of town doesn’t have much to offer in the way of hiking.

Well, I didn’t get a run in today either, but I did take the babies on an hour walk. Even in the bad weather, it was great!
